So is NZFF going to pay power?

I'm happy to help with a donation

Fire brigade, Police!!!!!!!!!!! whats that got to do with an airshow? I think NZFF would be far more interesting at a airshow than tractors and police biggrin.gif wink.gif

not to all the young kids and young families that usually pack out the tga shows, fire engines and big bangs usually take the prize in any kids mind.

but for the actual flight enthusiasts then yeah it is more interesting than the tractors and police.

Maybe on the fsx demo you ought to set it up so its playing out the tauranga air show with RNZ TG scenery etc. its a little more on topic then and the organisers have less to wine about.

Maybe Rob will resample the aerial imagery to 2.5m/pixel for the show? Or upgrade?

Unfortunately I don't have access to any colour imagery for Tauranga, and I don't have any plans -- or resources -- to visit the airport before the airshow, so there won't be an update. However since I'll be there for the airshow anyway, there may be an update afterwards.

That would be excellent Rob, I am happy to pay for an update to Tauranga, and I am sure others would too.
Out of all your sceneries I would say Tauranga needs the update the most as it was the first one to be made.

Maybe if we have to pay 4 a site we could approach a company like alphasim or justflight and see if they could sponsor us and we could promote their products. I have plenty of their payware products and most of us I assume would also have different addons, so we could quite easily set something up.

So, let's go ahead and do this, we certainly have enough support based on the offers made here.

What we really need is a project manager. I'd be happy to do it, but in view of my commercial interest this many not be acceptable, so any volunteers? Maybe a local would be the best choice...

Then there's some issues to consider -- for example, is project management handled through the forum, or with a separate management system? Bear in mind that the forum software is designed for, well, forums, and project management software is designed to manage projects, so there are a lot of advantages to using something custom-built to keep track of tasks, calendars, files etc. I can host this if required.

So, anyone interesting in taking the lead?

Yeah I'll put my hand up and do this (Thoughts/Objections?)- Apologies for the late reply but i'm at a conferance/meeting until wednesday. I'll endeavour to email the organisers tomorrow and let them know of out decision to go with the commercial site booking.

In terms of project management, google docs/calendar seems to be a good way to collaborate on projects? Certainly not a custom solution but I think that, coupled with regular meetings on teamspeak we can get it organised fairly well?

In terms of Tauranga imagery for the airshow, time permitting, I may be able to convert some EBOP imagery (0.8m GSD) imagery for it.....the hard work has already been done (Autogen by Robin/Ian and water masking polygons by me previously)

So, in that case, shall we set up a committe to start organising this? Volunteers?

Great, too late to back out now.... :)

As far as updating Tauranga imagery is concerned, leave this with me, I have an idea. If it doesn't pan out I'll get back to you.

It's now up to you to do the organisational groundwork, good luck! I'll get you to have a look at dotProject, and you can decide how it stacks up with Google Docs. I'll send you a login to a trial install on my site.

Righto- I've sent an email to confirm we would like to book the site under a commercial booking.

For those that have indicated that they would like to take a more formal role in helping out, could you please send me a PM with your email address so I can add you to the project management application that Robin has set up- This allows us to assign tasks etc to keep things ticking along.

It would also be good to have someone, not necessarily heading to the airshow, that may be able to help out organising some NZFF community media which would be shown at the site (i.e. organising member screen shots to show as a slide show, videos to show etc)

Mods- Perhaps we could make this a sticky? Ill edit the first post to indicate where we are at organising etc.
