Kaikoura Robinson R44 Raven

Weather was not good for hiking in the hills, so stayed around the beach and got some nice shots of the R44 Raven helicopter in operation. Like the first shot the most, lucky with the sunshine:

Nice shots, i agree #1 is great, Ive done that whale flight age's ago....i think they used a jetranger then, back when "wings over whales" used the old Islanders.
Happy....may i ask what camera you use, Im looking to upgrade , as i can only edit mine so much to improve the look.

The camera is a Panasonic FZ28 Lumix. It is my 3rd Panasonic camera in a row, which says something. Got rid of a Canon D350 with extra lenses to change to Panasonic, and I get much better photos with it, despite the smaller sensor size. Great to have a Leica lens (famous for quality) and and 18X optical zoom. The disadvantage with Pansonic cameras (has been the same on many of their cameras for a long time) is that whilst they are fantastic in good light, in poor light or at night then tend to suffer a noise problem. Not a huge disadvantage for me, as nearly all my photos are done in normal light. The camera cost me about $600NZ although it is out of production now so probably is being sold for a lot less. I like not having to change lenses the whole time, as the lens goes from the (35mm) equivalent of 28mm to 420mm. Image stabilisation helps as well. One other good thing with the Panasonic is that it takes HD movies as well, and at 30fps. Certainly next time I come to change the camera, then Pansonic will automatically be on the short list.
