Hmm, I've had a close look at that challenge, and I think I'll leave it up to the mission experts -- I could make the mission, but I don't think I could test it properly...

My copter skills are slowly improving, but this morning I was testing some updates, and maybe came down a little hard trying to land on the platform, I lost power, and only just managed to scrape it into the carpark. This is full realism and crash enabled, so I considered myself lucky.

Looking good Rob,

Any chance to update the "Flight Experience" building and the mash building??

A few other things that could possibly be done :S

Tauranga Aero Club (new building)
Tauranga Skydive (Updated signs and writing)
Shell fuel pumps
New Hangar at classic Flyers
New Taxiways?
New industrial buildings around perimeter of airfield?

I will help if required to get these photos

Also would it be too dificult to update this for "Flight Experience" ??

Because I want to have this ready for the Waitangi Day airshow, it needs to be finished now, so there won't be any more changes. (A couple of the things on your list have been done.)

However I may be able to update the terminal if you can get me some pics pretty soon.

There's just some tidying up to do, and at the moment I'm working on the markings. As I said earlier, the update is based on an aerial image, so the markings and taxiways etc will be based on that. Any modelling changes are based on my 2006 visit though:)

I've made lots of little changes, to bring it more into line with what I think represents a 'modern' FSX scenery.

I will try and get some pics for you today,

Also if I got some pics for the new Classic FLyers Hangar could you do that, pretty simple hopefully, just a box shape hangar??
And regarding the grass runways could we widen these so there simialr to the real length??

Il try and get some stuff for you as it woukld be really great to get these done in the update.

So the new taxiways and the Shell Fuel pumps would be to difficult?

Thanks for that.

Not too difficult -- just no time. This project was purely and simply to have a more modern Tauranga for the airshow, so I've only had a fraction of the time required to do a complete update -- which is why I don't do updates. The design process requires a close-off date, to make sure that everything is thoroughly tested and any issues fixed. That date is normally 4 weeks before the final scenery is built -- which has passed now.

Some more screenshots....
IMPORTANT! -- some of these screenshots include night lights from Timmo's beta scenery. I don't know whether his final release will include all these lights -- I suspect not, because they are quite heavy on frame rates -- but in the meantime I'm just blown away by the realism of the city lights in the distance. (The airport lights are mine...)

The plan is to finish this in time to take it to the airshow in Feb.

Yes, there will be a free download, and a cheap CD replacement ($10?) for existing owners. However it will be available only via my Store. So you will need to 'purchase' the download, even though there will be no charge. (This is the only way to serve a reliable, secure download.) There are a couple of issues with this -- first, you may need to wait for your 'order' to be manually activated, as I'll need to check on eligibility. I may also run out of monthly bandwidth at some stage, so I may need to shut down downloads until the beginning of the next month, to keep enough bandwidth for other product purchases.

The download may be 500MB.

Downloads may not be available until after the airshow. However if you bring your Rotorua/Tauranga CD to the airshow, I'll replace it for free.

No worries, Matt, by then you should have a beta version anyway -- one of the jobs which comes with volunteering for Airshow duty:)

Looking good Robin- You are right, i've restricted the number of lights to major roads (as opposed to all roads)......I think the effect is actually better as it allows you to see the main routes aiding night VFR navigation.

As an aside- this is where the NZFF/Real NZ stall will be
