Just 2 i snapped this morning....if they look a bit dull, its because thats all the damm weather we get down here now.....low gray misty and cold. dry.gif
The LC-130 was one of two departing to the ice this morning on rwy 02. Call signs "skier 94 & 96". I didn't realise they go all the way down there at FL18, that must keep them in a certain ammount of weather. Anyone know if thats standard planning for those flights or just these guys today ?

The 777 was NZ90 heading to AKL ,( arrive's as NZ90) not sure what he is going out.....not great shots, but from a new angle for a change.....i found a new spot, but wasnt expecting to get anything as they were in the cloud just above 600ft.

Cheers

You can see the transition , the new tower from the old , personally i recon they should keep the old tower keep it open and even get some revenue as - a plane spotters dream

I had the same thought Ian, and it could be quite a money spinner for them as well. The old tower must be (aviation wise) quite historic.....its a shame, and as you said before, no sign of a viewing area on the roof of the new complex. They need to look at what some of the overseas airports are doing, those that see the "spotter" as a potential source of income.
Sorry about the picture quality, as i said, they reflect the weather and the mood here at the moment dry.gif (as you know).....and they say today will be nice and fine....Yeah right.
Cheers.

You go into Sydney Airport , the old tower is still there , they simply built around it , whether not you can get inside it is another story but 'one' said about many things done in the NZ , we build em only to rip it down years later without any thought ... Wigram would be an example of this , sure they will keep the Tower, hangers, buildings , just hand it over to a tribe and they will rip it apart rather than keeping it a aviation park .
