Great photos! looked like an awesome day! clapping.gif

I see an Iroquois and a CT4/E in your bottom photo, what involvment did the RNZAF have? I hear their display budget has been slashed.... unsure.gif
Also, did the Red Checkers fly?

Yes the display budget has been slashed...only RNZAF aircrfat at NZTG was the Historic Flight Harvard, 1 Iroquios, CT-4E and one non partcipating King Air...a Herc suppose to turn up but no heavy metal from the Air Force...the Red Checkers are tempoairily grounded due to the accident.

Yup Naki said it all!
Spitfire was awesome however he couldn't return to land after his display as the crosswind was too strong, so he headed back to Ohakea if any of you wondered.

I was one of the dudes on the flight line, tried to see as many people as I could but didn't do so well apart from meeting the dudes at the NZFF tent.

Overall airshow was 10/10 and I really enjoyed it despite being badly sunburnt

I had good look at that jet powered Long Eze..jet engine is from a drone (Vietnam era). Suppose to have 1:1 thrust to weight ratio!....it was powered by a Rotary engine.

The jet is from a cruise missile!!! Full throttle will give an estimated 9 minute run. Careful/cruise throttle use will give 30 minutes.
The rotary engine he used was a 13B twin turbo with the contra-rotating prop. You could here him flying 10 km away!!! It produced somewhere near 550Hp and it wasn't possible to hold the nose down at full throttle...

The BD5 in the background has a 90hp (ish) snow-mobile motor. I don't know what brand.

I think it was a Yamaha..the Bede 5 is been repowered with a jet engine as well I believe. Yes you could always hear the Longeze when it was airborne!
