First things first - a *HUGE* thank you to all concerned with the stall. It looked *very* professional and I hope it put NZFF a bit more on the map, so to speak.
I also had difficulty finding it at first (I'd lost that pic that had the show scenery + big arrow on it). If I hadn't have once been a keen volleyballer, I'd have missed it

Great to meet you all - though I'm sorry that I never made it back. My friend Rob had never yet seen a flying Spit (he's successfully jinxed all the previous Spit shows), so we were paranoid about missing it. By the time we did make it back to the stand, it was all over/cleaned out.
I wish I'd been able to stay and chat longer - so good to put faces to names. Trouble is, I was split between the social side and wanting to actually watch those luvverly warbirds. Maybe next time I'll come for both days.
On the whole, I thought it was an excellent show - ruined only by the idiotic commentator - that couldn't tell the difference between a loop and a barrel-roll, completely missed the para drops, then insisted in talking high pitched gibberish all over the Spit display, masking out the sound of that beautiful Merlin (that wasn't already drowned out by the equally insensitive ground fire noise).
Spitfires fly oh so rarely in the NZ skies so we really want to savour those moments. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
After the Spit, my next favourite (curiously) was the C152 aerobatic display (the ubiquitous Hooker?). Can't put my finger on it - just looked awesome. Yoshi's Red Bull display was out of this world - as was Doug Brooker's Yak52. The P40 pair put in a *lot* of work - quite happy to fly all day - repelling attackers etc. - as did the Harvards. No NZ show would be complete without those awesome old planes (and pilots). My regular favourite, the DC-3, also looked majestic every time it did a trip. Wow! Not to mention the fantastic Corsair. All air show regulars, but always a treat!
Inevitably, the CT4's left a huge hole in the day. Very sad. I'm surprised the RNZAF couldn't have re-routed a Herc or P-3 exercise for Sunday. Even a simple flypast would've "flown the flag" for the Air Force on Waitangi weekend. Hmmm. I'm such a Herc fanboi that I'd have loved it. I suppose they did put on a good chopper display though

A great day - well organised and well worth the drive down from Auckland. Good job we brought plenty of sun-block!!
Quick note and thanks to Rob for the scenery updates

. NZTG looks incredible - have yet to check out the differences ion the others.
