I've been looking at this too.

Look for maps2bgl__how_to_.zip on AVSim

Edit: The biggest tip is to have patience!

A winter theme???
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Yep, works with virtual earth selected (ie no "#" in front of it in the .ini).

Not sure of the meaning behind v=53?

I can see me spending a fair amount of time now doing some scenery tiles lol

Just did a small area over Matamata. Obviously I have work to do to edit / delete / blend the tiles with no imagery, but I am pleased with how it went for a first attempt (using virtual earth).

Matamata Town

The airport - the runways are not quite aligned...

You can see the blank squares here. I think it's because the polygon I drew encroached into a partial tile so it downloaded the whole tile to the edge of the polygon

Matt,

A little trick when you get white tiles is to download the same KML file a few times. The tile already downloaded in your TilesCache will remain but some if not all of your white tiles will be over ridden with picture tiles.
Matt in some cases IE water tiles there just is no picture tile so you have to improvise.......

Was good for a play around but I'm not going to dabble any further. In fact I am seriously considering going back to FS9, after a medium flight last night my system was crippled when landing at WN. All texs washed out and wouldn't sharpen up. I'll wait till I can upgrade my PC, which is 5 years old now and struggling with FSX sad.gif
