Well, I finally broke down yesterday and bought a new graphics card (Nvidia 9500GT 1.024GB/128bit DDR3), and wanted to share a few test shots with everybody cool.gif

biggrin.gif - must be the season. I've just got home from enquiring about one of these for my system! Will have to wait until I get a bit more cash next month but you've certainly whetted my appetite for me!

A local electronics chain had mine at a very good price ($70USD/ - about $$99NZD), and they're probably that way in a lot of places as mine is a DDR3, and the newest ones are DDR5. Very worthwhile investment, not only do the graphics look better, but it also makes worlds of difference in how fast the flights load, views pan more naturally, and you can take advantage of higher mipmapping levels. After using my computer's built-in graphics processor for so long, the first flight with this new one was almost surreal in it's smoothness and clarity.

One thing I love about it that I now can use aircraft that once overloaded the graphics capability of my computer's stock graphics processor (such as this Sabre, Alphasim's Gripen, Eurofighter, KA-50 Blackshark, and the AFG King Air), and flying from the VC has become much more fun and do-able, especially without scenery "brown-outs". I also love that I can now use complex weather sets without my FPS dropping into single digit range - I can now average about 45-60fps in most weather conditions, occasionally dropping as low as 20fps in heavy fog or clouds.

Some more shots, this time with the Section F8 F-86E/F Sabre over the Alps:
