AI Aircraft Prop Fix for FSX

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby dbcunnz » Sat Apr 03, 2010 11:07 pm

I have just installed the World of AI AIR NEW ZEALAND (REGIONAL PARTNERS) SUMMER 2008 for FS2004 and FSX.
The aircraft in this pack are HTAI B1900D, PAI ATR72, DH8C.The HTAI B1900D works fine with the prop fix file and the PAI ATR72 works fine in FSX DirectX 9 but needs a prop fix for DirectX 10 the DH8C needs a prop fix for both DirectX 9 and 10.
The HTAI B1900D is the only one that has a prop file in the texture folder the other two do not have any prop files in their texture folder so it maybe a fix in the aircraft.cfg file that is required.
Any clever members around that can fix these problems I would be great full for their help

David "Opa" Marshall has written an illustrated tutorial (prop_fix.zip) which walks you the process. Know it's available from flightsim.com, don't know about AvSim (sooo much is still missing there, I don't even bother to visit the file area any longer).

I have been playing around with AI for FSX the last couple of weeks with downloading every WOAI package etc and have concluded it is much easier installing ORBX AI package first(freeware) covers NZ very nicely, then installing missing AI from WOAI replacing any prop files if needed with FSX compatible. I have also then installed 'Charls' NZ AI packages(which I personally think is a must have) again you will need to replace AI prop textures(there is a file around to download)

TIP just remember when using FS9 traffic files in FSX you will need to change them over to FSX compatible files using a freeware program such as AI Flight Planner very easy to do, or else none of your FSX traffic will show.

The HTAI prop fix for the Beech 1900 is jut a small .bmp file to replace the one in the texture folder if you just want that one then if you message me with your email address I can email it to you but as for the PAI aircraft prop I have not been able to find anything to fix the prop texture.
If you want a Propeller Texture Replace Tool then try http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/maiw.php
There is a program that you can convert many AI aircraft prop textures from earlier AI aircraft to run in both FS9 and FSX.

Another question Doug...did you get the WOAI Dash-8 prop fixed?

I have had a look at the FTX/ORBX ai package - whilst most of the aircaft are quite good the Air NZ Dash-8 is not the right model - it is short fuse 100/200 model and just doesn't look right...the Dash-8/Q300 to me is probably one of the most important AI aircraft as it is the most common aircraft in the Air NZ fleet and is regularly seen at my home base - NZTG.

There are two AI aircraft that I have not been able to find a prop fix for and they are the ATR72 and the DH8C both WOA-PAI aircraft the PAI aircraft have no prop file in their texture folder the prop it in the fuselage file in their texture folder it appears that all the PAI AI aircraft do not have a prop file.
Is there anyone who knows how to fix the prop in the PAI_ATR72_T.bmp and the pai_d8q3_t.bmp for the respective aircraft texture folders to make them acceptable for FSX?
I'm sure a lot of members would like to see a fix for these two aircraft.

Okay Ive found an AI Q300 which looks like it has seperate prop textures so they can be replaced - it also includes an Air NZ scheme - maybe this can be used to replace the other model? When I have time I will have a little experiment with this to see whether I can make it work.
