Welcome to the NZFF Screenshot Competition for May 2010.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be at least 1024 pixels wide, and no wider than 1280 pixels -- this is a change from previously, so take note! Read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

3) Also remember, try and make your shot suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that when positioning your aircraft and choosing camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either)

4) Images can be submitted from May 10th to May 31st 2010, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission before the closing date if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by using the edit button at the bottom of your post. Please don't post saying you have edited your original entry, as this creates unnecessary clutter).

5) Soon after the competition ends, a poll will open to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the prize the adulation of the forum!

6) Editing is allowed, if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

7) This month's theme is 'This is my best screenshot this month.'. As always you can interpret the theme as you wish.

Once again, there is no prize, but that just takes some of the pressure off! I want to see at least 50 entries this month. Imagine if 10% of members entered, that would be 140 entries!!!

And we're off with a new entrant, not to mention a beautiful image. I have a feeling it'll be a corker comp.

Realair spitfire for FSX in it's contra-rotating prop model (Yes contra-rotating! I was shocked too) REX clouds in the background and that's about it. I've spent a lot of time not doing much other than hooning around in this lately smile.gif

EDIT: Oh, and ignore the unsightly menu bar and "Sound off" label. They can be cropped out when I win winkyy.gif

Yep - it's about as open ended as it could be laugh.gif! Let's hope that stirs it up a bit!

May I make a suggestion? I follow the screenshots avidly, as I'm dead keen to see what amazing images people squeeze out of their respective systems. Quite often, I think "now, he did he do *that*". So ... I'd love to see info about FS version, any add-ons used, aircraft/repaint variation etc. Many people already do this in an informal way ... is it worth encouraging them to add that sort of info, do you think?

I've just quickly added that stuff to mine above. Hopefully everyone follows suit.

The Rules (well 3 of them):

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory. Yes, FSX and Wanaka.

2) The image size must be at least 1024 pixels wide, and no wider than 1280 pixels - comply

3) Also remember, try and make your shot suitable for a thin rectangular banner. Think about that when positioning your aircraft and choosing camera angles etc. (and please don't include any text on the image either) - Comply, aspect ratio of banner appears to be 980 x 260 but on this forum page 1024 wide, as required by 2) above.

So here is my entry for May 2010:

Warbirds Over Wanaka Air Show
Lancaster PO-S doing a low pass on two engines.
A view from a Gold Stand.
Pilot: F/L 617sticks.

Here is my entry for the May competition. Took the MkIX Spit up last night from Wanaka, bit late getting up so the sun was beginning to set. Simple shot for a change.

Smooth landings.
