Now the G11 , yes the Grumman Tiger ... was known to have shot itself down with its own gun , the F89 .. a US concept close to the British Javelin , course my fave , the last one tho - the sound package is ideally suited to Derek Palmer,s DH104 Devon ... Superb

Thanks Ian.....re the last shot....everyone tends to overlook the default aircraft. I know FS9 is in the past for a lot of you, but i think it still has a lot to offer....I love FSX....but the old Fs9 is still interesting to me.
Im working on a few more screens from fs9.......just trying to squeeze as much as i can out of it winkyy.gif Tell me more about the Tiger shooting it self down.....

Cheers

Marty

The pilot fired the 20mm cannons in a shallow, supersonic dive - managing to get ahead of his own bullets - and when he pulled up, the bullets caught back up to him.

QUOTE
On Sep 21, 1956 Grumman test pilot Tom Attridge shot himself down in a graphic demonstration of two objects occupying the wrong place at the same time—one being a Grumman F11F-1 Tiger [138260], the other a gaggle of its own bullets..

It happened on the second run of test-firing four 20mm cannon at Mach 1.0 speeds. At 20,000' Attridge entered a shallow dive of 20°, accelerating in afterburner, and at 13,000' pulled the trigger for a four-second burst, then another to empty the belts. During the firing run the F11F continued its descent, and upon arriving at 7,000', the armor-glass windshield was struck, but not penetrated, by an object..[/quote]

I too believe FS9 has a lot to offer. The only thing I wish is that we had better ground textures. REX for FS9 has done wonders for the airborne environment, but neither GE Pro or FScene are good enough - at least for me.
