Stick and Rudder: An Explanation of the Art of Flying - Wolfgang Langewiesche See here. Old, c.1940s, but still a good read and relevant.

well these are aviation books, but more about the machines and people that fly them in battle,

both by ed macy, hellfire and apache, really good reads about the machine and the man flying them, mainly ed macy.

Spitfire into War, by Sandy Johnstone. More than anything else this book will be the reason realair eventually get some dosh from me.

I cant provide any links Im sorry, but some that i have read over the past year:

Flying the big jets: Stanley Stuart (all you want to know about flying a 747)

The first and the last : Adolf Galland . Good read.....a view from the otherside.

Test pilot : Neville Duke . Great book about test flying in the 40's and 50's.

Sea Harrier over the falklands: Commander "Sharkey" Ward DSC,AFC, RN. Great book, lots of tech stuff.

Carrier Pilot. Norman Hanson . About a royal Navy Corsair Pilot in WW2 .

All worth a look......Im always on the look out for these types of books....i cant read fiction at all.
I do have a big collection of these types, and Im quite happy to lend them out if your interested. Most of the WW2 stuff is out of print now, so when i see anything i grab it, and Ive found some real little treasures over the years.

Marty , i was,t going to put a list for 'HercFeend' it could start at authors , anything by Roger Freeman , Jerry Scutts , Norman Franks , the huge Schiff Military Collection , course NZ book other than already mentioned , authors Richard Waugh and Tony Phillips , I away,s have a good search at the local tech book shop .
