There are currently 2 RAAF Army (thanks for the HU Gavin) Black hawks @ Christchurch INTL (operation deep freeze area) 2 more are meant to be on their way, the RAAF are going to do some Alpine training up in Blenheim with the RNZAF hueys.
Does anyone have any more info on when they are leaving CHCH intl?

Also if you have any better pictures please share them as these ones are terrible!

Delivered to Christchurch 15Jul by RAAF Boeing C17 Globemaster A41-207, ASY597, these two Australian Army SH60 Blackhawk helicopters were disgourged late evening and are seen here this morning undergoing further prep work before heading north to Dip Flat in the Marlborough region to participate in exercise "Blackbird 2010" and "ANZAC ROTOR 2010". See the following NZDF media info : http://www.nzdf.mil.nz/news/media-releases...d21jriaabae.htm

A25-112, first flown in May 1989, has the name "Saracen" and A25-218, first flown in August 1990, is named "Invincible".

Two additional Blackhawks arrived on the evening of 16Jul on board A41-207 which had headed back to Australia in the morning.

Noted during the early hours of 17Jul were
A25-211, first flown in March 1990 and named "Viper" and A25-215, first flown July 1990 with the name "Excalibur".

The C17 can easily carry the two UH-60s and the nuts and bolts to go with and the crews plus their lunchbox,s , the ramp alone can lift the entire payload ( 20 tonnes) off a C130 .

There is a big difference between Tekapo and Dip Flat. Dip Flat is 89km Southwest of Woodbourne and Tekapo is 390km Southwest of Woodbourne.

Leo....dont worry .....just walk up, stick your camera over the fence and click.(if you can...)Im 6 4" so most fences dont prove to be much of a problem....Ive always found the Aussies great as far as public relations go.......its the red neck security goons at the airport who need to get a life.....but having said that...they have a job to do as well.......
