CPL Theory - All done!

A place for 'real world' pilots and aviation enthusiasts to discuss their hobby

Phew! Glad that's all over and I can have my evenings back for a little while at least!

I took and passed my last CPL theory exam (PoF&AP(A)) yesterday and, by the end of the exam, couldn't help but wonder if it had been a test of my technical knowledge or a test of English comprehension....... Looking at the KDRs, unfortunately it appears to have been the latter!!!!

Has anyone else had this experience??

' Have you ever notice that the experts who decree that the age of the pilot is over are people who have never flown anything? In spite of the intensity of their feelings that the pilot's day is over I know of no expert who has volunteered to be a passenger in a non-piloted aircraft..'

I know the feeling, you sometimes look at your KDRs and go 'How the hell could I get that wrong' but as you said pacblue, it's all bloody english comprehension, must be real hard for the foreign guys coming over here to do these silly ASL questions..

According to one of my CPL nav KDRs, I failed to correctly answer "describe the general shape of the earth". laugh.gif

In CPL Nav. I apparently failed to define:
GS, IAS, CAS and TAS
How the hell did i still manage to get 90%?

Well I'm glad it's not just me, and like you said Splitpin "I did it anyway". It's still bloody annoying though knowing you could have done better and not because you didn't know you stuff!! I'll get over it! drool.gif

Oh cr*p...I'm a foreigner and in the middle of my PPL theory studies....I'm not looking forward to this....It was hard enough to learn all those technical words (I didn't even know what they meant in hungarian) and aerodynamics in english, now add this 'english comprehension' exam to the top...will be fun...

haha depends on how generally you want to describe it doesn't it! A geographer like me will have a very different description of the 'general shape of the earth' to an astronomer or a 'layman' for that matter.
