Thanks Ian, i thought the wave was a nice touch too....but i didn't notice untill i got the pics on the computer... sad.gif .. I felt awfull because i didn't get a chance to return it.....and i was the only one at that spot to see him leaving.

Did you notice how rough the paintwork is all around the front of that T7....chips and scrapes...bits over painted...real messy

Next time I'll swing past and pick you up.....just ended up out there today by accident.

Cheers

Marty

Thanks dude....its a good spot, behind a fence, but when they taxi past the wing is almost over the fence. Its great being that close, those engines make a beautiful deep humming sound......and the smell of Jet A1 .....Ahhhhhhhhhhh smile.gif

Oh yeah - love that av-gas smell! Only true plane-heads understand the joy of a good whiff of super-refined kerosene and the throaty roar / rumble of the whine of turbines. Having said that, I much prefer the purr of a merlin... cool.gif

None of them come anywhere near the awesome whine of those four RR darts as the old Argosy lifts off and climbs away plane.gif

Got me there - never had the pleasure. Would it sound anything like a Lanc or a Fortress? Not that I've had the pleasure of those either... sad.gif I was born 10 years too late to enjoy all the prop-driven aircraft! Hercs & Orions are too quiet - I like an engine with balls! laugh.gif

The Argosy was nothing like any of those it has a sound of its own and it became known as the Whistling Wheelbarrow.

True Doug.....4 Darts....nothing like it. I can remember watching the Viscounts out at Harewood....from some angles, the noise was almost painfull. I got to enjoy it again years later with F-27's at Wigram, and sometimes i hear that post service F-27 coming in late at night.....Rolls Royce music wub.gif

Best examples with BALLS biggrin.gif would follow Doug,s direction , go to CBFS , you get all the ball grinding whistles , HS748s to Viscounts , Doug,s fave the Wheelbarrow .. and trust me the sound set for these Darts (the engines) prity much smack on cool.gif
