"sure as hell beats anything on TV and jeepers do you get to no the country "

Thats true Ian. A while ago i mentioned that the work that You, Robin, Timmo, Mike, Lawrie are doing could go way past flightsim. I would have had more interest in geography if we had VLC in some form at school ....way back in the dark ages.

Imagine as well.....your flying from chc to akl, or anywhere....and you can watch the progress using sim scenery if its IFR or night time.(better than that stupid bloody trivia thing Air New Zealand have at the moment)
Aero clubs could use it....there are no doubt some Military applications as well........You guys should get it all locked up some how (patent or something) and think global .....

You are welcome to use the services of "Splitpin Worldwide Marketing Inc" winkyy.gif

More power to you all .... thumbup1.gif

Im serious.....you guys under estimate what you have there, you really do. "Joe public" has plenty of money...."joe corporate" has more!!....and "Joe...i didnt make it, but I'll steal it" is just waiting out there........

And dont give me some long winded philosophical essay on the merits of "its just a hobby" ........i really think you have something there....all of you. thumbup1.gif (Ian, Rob,Timmo, Mike, Lawrie )

Marty

More than 1 Markus.....Ive been an Alpha fan for a long time. I suppose you have to decide what you want......100% acurate dynamics....eye candy....whatever.
Some of their stuff has been odd (only my opinion) but overall , Ive enjoyed 99% of what they have had on offer. Point in case.....where can you find a better Harvard?.....Islander?... Blenhiem?...Lynx?....i dont think you will.(my opinion again)
Once again, depending on what your looking for....and we are talking about "simulation" after all...which by definition is " the imitation of some real thing".......and imitation by definition.....blah blah.................

Here,s my count on the Harvard subject , put a SU (sky unlimited ) cockpit in an Alpha sim AT-6 , it would sell better than hot cakes ! the AS sound pack is perfect , the SU model is a little scewy .. something , something missing .

(1) I want a show off hands , how many have the Alpha Harvard . FS9 and FSX -

(2) Who wants to try a MP - multiplay setup , and TS teamspeak - maybe now time to FShost this

(3) One who dose not own the AS Harvard wants to join in the fun and drive Bruce Fitzgerald s CV-6 (freeware) USS Enterprise

(4) Or if you don't have or want to be a Carrier driver , ATC

course (3) is limited to FSX - many will have FS9 , so we will set up a flight in around Omaka/Woodbourne and we get to learn the FShost setup .

@ Splitpin:
I totally agree concerning the (in most cases) high quality of the AS products. And if I weren't a "fixed-wing-guy", I'd certainly buy and enjoy most of their rotorcraft!
Additionally, I highly appreciate their policy to release older models as freeware, and I'd like to support them more often by purchasing. But besides their Hudson (which is desperately lacking the civil model variation) and their Canberra (freeware release made by Steven Beeny, creator of the awesome Hawker Sea Hawk, announced), there isn't much more in their hangar I'd like to add to mine...

@ Ian:
Yep - the panel undisputedly is the worst bummer in the Alpha "Six". Fortunately, I can live without a VC (totally ignorable in their rendition), and my 2D cab is cumstomized:

Panel bitmap butchered from somebody's freeware Texan, set up for 16:10 ratio, gauges borrowed from several freeware (DH Dove) and payware (AS Texan) sources.

The SU Texan for sure is "better" in some aspects, but - compared to what AS did - their exterior model and textures just don't cut the mustard...
I tried to convert the NZ1023 ("Josephine III") repaint to fit on the SU model, but the result just didn't convince me at all!

But isn't it great to have choices and to combine the best of both worlds?

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks Markus......i guess Im just an old Alpha fan.Their stuff was some of the first addons i ever purchased. I know they have had a few, that havent quite made the grade(but thats just me talking) but overall they have contributed a lot the hobby, and yes, the returning some to freeware is great (Iris as well)

I agree with your panel comments (alpha) some are very "cartoon" like.....but for me....its the externals i enjoy, mainly for screenshots. I guess Im not a real simmer (in the flying sense) anymore, at the moment anyway....Im just building a collection of f/s art i suppose you could call it (screens)

Cheers....keep up the good work , its appreciated thumbup1.gif
