Welcome to the NZFF Screenshot Competition for August 2010.

This month's rules are as follows:

1) The screenshot must be from a Flight Simulator program (FS2004, FSX, X-Plane, etc), and the position of the shot must be somewhere over New Zealand territory.

2) The image size must be at least 1024 pixels wide, and no wider than 1280 pixels -- this is a change from previously, so take note! Read the uploading screenshot guide to find out how to re-size your shot. Please keep a high resolution version saved on your computer; the admin may request it from you at the end of the month to convert into a site banner!

3) Images can be submitted from August 10th to August 31st 2010, with only one entry per member. You can change your submission before the closing date if you want, just delete the old one and replace it with a new one (by using the edit button at the bottom of your post. Please don't post saying you have edited your original entry, as this creates unnecessary clutter).

4) Soon after the competition ends, a poll will open to decide who has the best image, then the winner will have a cropped version of their image appear in the NZFF banner as well as receiving the prize the adulation of the forum!

5) Editing is allowed, if you know how to do it. The more stunning your shots look the better!

6) This month's theme is 'I love default!'. As always you can interpret the theme as you wish, but you shot must show either a default aircraft and paint(that is, one which was supplied with the original simulator -- Acceleration not included!) or it must feature default scenery -- no addon scenery may be included. Note that this is either/or -- you could show an addon aircraft provided a major feature of the screenshot was default scenery, or you could show a default aircraft over addon scenery.

The idea behind this theme is to celebrate the default features of the sim, as this time next month many of us will have put default scenery behind us for ever.

If you choose the default scenery option, then yes, but I think that some leeway is available -- I know it would be almost impossible for some to return their sim to a default state. I wouldn't expect anyone to disable an environment addon such as REX, but any landclass/mesh addons would need to be disabled.

However the easy way out is to select the default aircraft/texture option. Which is what I'd expect most to do. The other option is there just in case anyone has gone as far as to remove their default aircraft!

Edit: another thing, just a request really, aimed at everyone but in response to Brausch's entry -- let us know which sim! A roundabout way of asking -- what sim is that, Brausch?

Friday 13th...
So what is special about stock MS FS9 planes?
Well for one thing, they have damage models!
Not really good form to show crashes in the civilian sim, so there's a chance this was a walk-away landing, perhaps a few lumps.

FS2004: A Century of Flight
Stock DC-3
Don't remember what stock trees even look like...may be stock, but nonetheless guaranteed 100% NZ in the sim.
Essentially just a resized screen, just the prop tip gnawed off after.
The temptation is really strong to try shopping in Smoke! and Flames! but - no.
