Hi all,
As I am new to FSX I am having some technical issuse trying to get it to run just right on my system. I re installed FSX and aceleration and found its running better the second time around, can't answer that one? .

The issues I am having are
-when I ticked Light bloom all I got was a black screen.
-When I change some of the settings the game crashes with the MS dialog box say FSX has encounted an errror and needs to close. doesn't happen all the time just some times
- Can't get FSX to change to windows mode, just hangs and I have to restart the PC.

My system specs
P4 dual core 3.4
2 gig ddr2 Ram
Asus gforce 7600 silent 512 meg pci-e running nvidia 258.96 drivers
Windows Xp service pack 3

Cheers

What resolution and what detail levels are you trying to run at, your symptoms are definitely system resource related particularly ram.

2GB is very light for FSX - the bare minimum you want is 4GB. May not help, but certainly won't hurt. How "clean" is your system? Have you cleaned / defragged your Registry? How's fragmentation on the hard drive? These are basics I'd cover off before starting to look for more system-specific problems. I could be that your graphic card is not up to it, as a 7600 is not a particularly powerful card (and it might be missing some key hardware feature that you're trying to switch on with FSX - just a thought).

Set the res to the max for the card which is 1600x1200x32 as for detail running at about 40% for sliders no cloud detail and low water res

Granted 2 gig is on the light side, will xp handle 4 gig. Yes the 7600 is a mid range card so maybe something else, any suggestions?
As for "how clean is my system I guess it could do with a clean install of windows I try to defrag my system weekly But I have never defragged my Registry or even know how too.

Not been rude but the 7600 was midrange 4-5 years ago. Its 5 generations old. If you want satisfaction from FSX you will need more ram, a modern video card and Windows7. Get 4 gig or more and use 64 bitversion. Your 3.4dual core will be ok. You could easily get in the high 3's with a mlid overclock and FSX is mostly about clock speed.

Thanks Andrew
Checked with a local PC shop seems a gforce 240 1gig card would be a big improvement. As we are using Xp32bit I will put in another gig of ram as the max I have been told is 3.5 gig for XP 32bit

Hi all
Decided to go with an Asus Geforce engts250 1gb card and up the ram to 3gb. Windows xp 32 will only run 3.5 gig and I only have 2 ram slots and currently only runining 2 gb . Hope to get the card in the next few weeks.
