Museum Oxford

Not great pics Im sorry......but, today i got to work on the Oxford all day....under the watchfull eye of PJ.
Removed the flap hydraulics...and flaps...cleaned them, then removed and cleaned the starboard fuel tank......refitted ....replaced corroded fittings...etc etc.
Im not an engineer ...in fact if theres are hard way to do something, I'll find it straight away ....but i did ok....thanks to a huge knowledge base all around me .

I was amazed my how much wood there is in that aircraft....yet so strong....anyway, i had a great day, and here are the not so great pics........

Marty had a look at this when it still had a old Aussie rego , this is a Envoy , a civilian version of the Oxford , come a long way and looking good .

Interesting shot there of the wing, almost looks like the wheel was added on as an afterthought. It will be interesting to see it when it is finished and ready for show, so please post more shots later.

Also, if you are handy in the hangar, perhaps you could knock up a simulator console for me!

Ian...this one has a "G" rego.....i was told its on loan from a Canadian museum......if the restoration is good enough we can keep it (i think thats what i understood...dont quote me)

I will keep you posted HT......re the console...I'll see what i can do. I found an A-4 panel the other day (minus gauges) i thought that would be a start(if you like fast jets) we also have a fully gauged Vampire panel, P-40, and a dak.......
If anyone is interested i am able to provide pics and measurements.

I did see a rego on the fuselage when it was still midnight blue , thought was VH , wonder if it was bits and pieces

No measurements ... just put the Dak panel on a DHL courier to Auckland, please!

I'm amazed at how complex some of these aircraft components are - even on a fairly "old" type. I mean - just look at all that "stuff" attached/half attached to the wing. Are there assembly diagrams for these things ... like in the old Airfix kits?

Yes there are....amazing detail on the plans....the drawings alone must have taken months to prepare....then build the aircraft.
Since Ive been helping out at the museum...my respect and admiration for aero engineers has increased ....amazing stuff (systems within systems).....

HaHa ....i thought of you when i was looking at the panel.......
