Ezdock camera addon (EZCA)

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Who has tried it?

I have just installed it and from first impressions it seems to add a lot to the immersion (almost as much as track IR). Although, I am having a bit of trouble reconfiguring my hat switch- but I am probably just missing something in the instructions.

I like it but the bloo_dy config takes forever to work out ,plus i dont like having to program all the custom view for my payware planes and helicopters which make life a pain in the __ ,ive had it with the length of time it all takes to do something so simple so ive put it in my to hard dont care anymore dam it delete ,i use DBS camera for movies still and what DBS program cant do for me i can just add in my editing ..
i recommend TrackIR much better ..

Yea, I know what you mean about the config. I'm going to be really happy once I get this hat switch sorted- it's really hard to line up with the runway when you can only look straight ahead!

I have been using it for some time now. I love and could never go back. The complexity seems daunting at first but you will get used to it. The new 1.16 version allows you to export or omport whole entire set of cameras form one plane to another so it makes setting up a new aircraft very easy.
Have you disabled your joystick hat switch panning view from with in FSX's controller asignments? you aslo have to delete key commands for a and s keys (view category and next category keys) and also any key asignments for the numberpad 1,2 and 3 keys. EZdok uses all these keys to fuction and if any of them are assigned in FSX controll panel then EZdok wont work properly. Once this is done you can start FSX up, open up the EZdok interface and select options, controll options or something to that description and select you joystick from the 1st dropdown menu. Dont tick any other box's or anything else as using the hat switch dual use eg, for panning and camera positions is a bit buggy.

I have had it installed for 3 months now it, I still use it with trackIR but not to the extent of all the swaying around and stuff. After a while that became a real PITA trying to do cockpit clicks and the likes. To be honest the novelty is starting to wear right off.
I'm sure if in the real world if pilots moved around in the cockpit like that there would be a huge increase is spinal compression and whiplash problems.

The default settings are very exagerated. You must tone them right down buy using the master master controll that exists in every effect type. Then the effect is quite realistic. I have flown high performance microlights for a number of years now and after I first installed EZdok i purposfully went for a flight just to focus on how much My head actually moved about and to my surprise - quite a bit. Your brain is such a good stabilization gyro for your vision you simply dont notice the movement visualy but the rest of your body is very sensitive to movement. Because simulation does not provide that physical sensation, then visual cues/effects like EZdok can provide a very emersive experience provided the effects are not overkill like the default settings are. I have the Dynamic head movement master controll right down between 30-40% and the random head movement master gains at around 50%. It makes it alot more subtle and believable, and makes it alot easier to use you mouse to flick switches.

Yeah have done all of the above, I think the novelty has just worn off.

Is it me, or is the EZCA add-on one of the most difficult things ever to set up in FSX??? Usually I can figure out installation details and cfg files etc. but this add on seems to be a real nightmare to set up.

It would have been nice if they could have designed an installer that would install the thing without the need to spend a LONG time trying to get the program set up. Perhaps when I have a spare weekend (!!) then I will try and re-install it.

Smooth landings.

Yes it is a steep learning curve and the software developed by a russian guy and we don't think like they do so that adds to the problem. Have you updated to v1.16? you can export a whole camera set at once.

Judging by my experience, few people do think like the developers of this software, but maybe I am just not intelligent enough for it!!

smooth landings.
