I haven't uploaded any screenshots for a long time, but during a flight tonight on Vatsim from Timaru to Christchurch I was inspired to snap some quick shots. I haven't really got too many paints for FSX and generally fly default (yeah I know boring aye), mainly as I do my flying in the 3D cockpit view. I caught a glimpse of Ohinetahi (I think that's where it is) when flying towards Lyttleton and away I went...

Ohinetahi

Doing a circuit somewhere near Robin's home

Heading over the hills

Heading towards an area I spent way too long in after the quake (and spend way too long each day talking to the poor people there with damaged homes and land)

Sorry that my autogen's so sparse Ian.. maybe one day I'll get myself something that will run FSX in more of its glory, however even with what I have got I have it running pretty smooth and acceptable to fly with.

Nice water effects the shots, and also the blue haze gives the photos a very real look. Nothing wrong with the default aircraft, we sometimes forget that they are in fact good (and sometimes better than other payware).

There is a lot to be said for concentrating on FLYING rather than spending hours (or even days) installing hundreds of extra aircraft and dozens of repaints. It is easy to spend too much time 'tweaking' and not enough time actually flying, so well done for doing what FS was designed for, flying!!

Nice set of shots there.

smooth landings.

Thanks guys. The water effects are a result of the FSX water configuration tool that was mentioned in another post. I can now turn my water up without any noticeable on FPS and get the look I like. Weather was real world through the sim and I have my view distance and LOD turned right down which produces the haze and removes the "see forever" view I don't like, so I don't get too upset about far away items being "blurry".

I will admit to pausing the sim to take the shots, which allowed some of the scenery to sharpen up, and I cropped out the title bar and red info lettering as I run it in a window.

Cheers

Matt

Great screenshots. Isn't it just great flying along the coastline of NZ?

FSX was getting too frustrating so I've actually gone back to FS9 now and will fly the same trip soon and see how those screens look smile.gif
