I flew from Rotorua to Wellington (with a divert to Hamilton on the way back) recently. Booked it through Grab a Seat so the price wasn't too bad. I flew on Air Nelson's Q300s both ways.

Going to Wellington, our aircraft was ZK-NEE.

Landing at Wellington was fairly calm in contrast to Rotroua.
Last time I flew to WLG it was in a Jetstream 32 unsure.gif

The flight back had a few unexpected surprises. The approach into Rotorua had some notable rough weather. The cloud base was at under 600 feet with some winds but still reasonably gentle and keeping it smooth, around 37 knots [just under 70 km/hour] . The aircraft then preformed a go around but didn’t manage to break through the cloud. We were then put in a holding pattern for about 20 minutes in hope that the cloud would clear. It didn’t so we were diverted to Hamilton.

Great shots, I love travelling on the Q300 - when they apply takeoff power it sounds awesome and you get pushed back in your seat a little. tongue.gif

Hi Euan

Welcome to NZFF - you're off to a cracker of a start with a great photographic contribution: thanks for sharing! Yep, gotta love those Q300's and their bigger brothers plying the airways in NZ: give me a prop over a jet any day. Love that sound during takeoff... mmmmm drool.gif
