CFG entrys

Information and support relating to this forthcoming New Zealand Vector Land Class addon.

I notice when i was in the fsx CFG it had my mesh level set at 22 meters though my slider in main interface says 19 which should find the best mesh level loaded in my library which is VLC dtm 20 meter ,though its set its self as 22 meters which has to be wrong right ?

I changed the entry manually in the cfg to a value of 20 meter and i noticed it had changed the height on my custom poly runway wheres now its bleeding through the ground unlike before at the height i built it for of 22meters and default mesh fsx settings ..
what are others setting there mesh too ? or are they changing this manually or just letting the slider choose whats best for them ,which kinda looks wrong to me if it says 22 meters and not 20 meter.

i hope you can sort this out before i have to make yet another final decision on what level the runway sits so i dont have any problems with issues relating to this entry in CFG ,which makes a huge difference ether way

I think the cfg setting must be a LOD value, rather than metres? Chenging it to 19 would lower the resolution, so you are probably looking at a 150 metre setting.

So what is the best setting for the mesh i see my CFG has reverted by itself back to 22 ,so do these value entrys have anything to do with the height setting like it did with 2004 and RBE mesh, like how you had to turn it to something like 21 from 23
[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
MESH_COMPLEXITY=100
MESH_RESOLUTION=22
TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=28
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5
DETAIL_TEXTURE=1
WATER_EFFECTS=4

so just can you confirm what is the setting for VLC in the main interface slider ,in the past ive set it to 19-10 meters, maybe this has been my problem ?

I changed the entry on the slider to 152 m and the mesh res setting changed to 21 ,i think this is kinda like you mean ,so should i go higher to get 20 ? or im on the wrong track

Here's a part of the LOD chart:

LOD = Metres:
18 = 150
19 = 76
20 = 38
21 = 19
22 = 9.6
23 = 4.8

Bear in mind that FSX rounds some of these values in the settings -- 9.6 is listed as 10 metres, 4.8 is 5, 2.4 is 2. So your setting above is 10 metres.

You should be able to set FSX to the same or higher resolution (higher LOD = lower metres) as the highest resolution mesh you use. Things get a bit complicated when flattens are used around airports, as these are affected by the LOD setting as well.

VLC after the patch uses AIP elevations for all airports, which at least gives a dependable, repeatable value. I've had problems with the fact that AIP elevations are in feet, so I set ADE to feet for elevations, to overcome any conversion/rounding problems.

Gidday Mike- Apologies for not being able to answer your query sooner- Things have been a bit hectic with work etc so I haven't been able to spend as much time with FS as I'd like.

Hopefully Robins response answers your query smile.gif
