C-5 before and after

I dont mean to hog this section....but pete wanted to see a before and after screen shot, so i used a C-5 one.

The result is (for this one) is based on personal preferences, .....all i do is crop, sharpen...then reduce the sharpining...adjust the gamma and offset....take the colour down a bit...and then post it here to make you lot sigh..."oh god...here we go again"....sometimes a simple "auto" on all areas works just as well.

Im using photoshop CS5 Extended and sometimes the old Corel paintshop photo pro X2 which has some things that ps dosent have.

As i said to Charl the other day, Im torn between a photoreal screen, and a screen of a photo....or something like that The main thing (i think) is to show the aircraft at its best in its natural environment, unless you are showcasing a specific scenery.........blah blah....

And then somtimes the original (unaltered) looks better.......Im not pretending to an expert....i mean, i cant (still) figure out how to 2 aircraft in the same shot .....i just do what looks good for me.....and them dump them on you lot ....wait untill i get VLC....EEEEHARR....increase the bandwidth...splitpins comin home

How is between 1015 and 1100 for you in the morning...have to pick the boss up from NZ90....so i can come and check on you while she clears customs etc

Cool - thanks dude. I like both those shots above. I prefer the blue in the water on the top, and the sharpness / skin tone on the aircraft in the 2nd.

I'm still using Photoshop 7 - did you do a course for CS5? How did you get to a place where you are comfortable with the various (myriad) tools & effects available?

Thanks Peter, i prefer the top one as well when i compare them...as for being comfortable...Im not. The learning curve is so steep....I'll never be a PS guru....just the basic's.

Ah - then we are similar in that regard then. Although I did 9 years hard labour in an advertising agency, I still only did fairly rudimentary work. There was a young guy there who was doing work-ex during the holidays - he was doing a graphic design course in Palmy. He could sit down with a blank document in Photoshop and create an almost-photographic picture of almost any type - in colour! I was in awe of his skills. Another of the guys - one I worked with full time - could paint landscapes with oils that were almost photographic. Ah, to be so artisitcally inclined and be able to couple that with technology...
