The A340 as heads away to the south east of Hamilton.

Nice man! Awesome seeing an A340 over Hamilton and to get a picture of it although I do often see Emirates A340 over Hamilton.

Good question, I can understand if they are over Hams but that's strange for it to be that low..
They come over Tauranga/Bay of Plenty area around 40,000ft ish and then must start there descent and head into Auckland. Interesting one though man

That is strange- the airspace north of HN between there an AA is uncontrolled up to 4500' in some places. Maybe there was an emergency descent due to decompression, or maybe the captain just requested a earlier descent to check out the view? Wx was amazing yesterday, CAVOK all over the upper North Island!

Isn't that just the normal climb gradient for that particular model of A340? dry.gif

the Last Time I saw the (nov 2008) LAN A340 & Aerolineas A340 Depart off Runway 23L Auckland out bound to South america - they both Flew towards Manukau Heads - turned to the east whilst climbing out over the Southern end of Manukau Harbour.
