What car do you Drive?

Its been a while since I posted in this thread- and with good reason; Back in December my Bluebird got pranged, so I got me a VR6 with the insurance payout. That decision wasn't really bought through, it drank more gas than I could afford and I had to spend a grand on it to sort the wheels out for the WOF. Got rid of it straight afterwards and invested in something more economical and more Japanese- this time a '93 Toyota Levin. Thought I was getting a good deal for $2800 with aftermarket lowered suspension, exhaust system and sounds, however it turned out to be illegally modified and I've spent the last few months collecting evidence on the rotter who sold it to me, (who refused to refund me) which I used to take him to court and eventually get my cash back.

Anyhow, after 2 rushed purchases in a row, I spent a little more care on research, got a pre purchase AA inspection, and made the owner give it a new WOF and cambelt before finally settling on a slightly newer '96 Levin with a trustworthy 4-FE Corolla equivalent 1.6l engine. The interior is immaculate for a car of its age, still smells new even though it rolled out the factory 16 years ago, and it's great on gas. Suffice to say, I'm very satisfied with my new wheels:

^And no, that isn't really my license plate. That would actually cost $939.00, half the value of the car itself. I'll properly just get the cheeky 'Id rather be flying' plate surrounds instead!

this ought to keep me busy for a little while

That is a crashed twin turbo, which im stealing the engine, gearbox, ecu, loom, transfer case, prop shaft, diff, and swapping into my one. Ive also swapped over the leather seats wub.gif (sorry for the shocking pics and dirty interior)

Spent about 4 hrs on pulling the engine this weekend, its about 1hr from being pulled out. All thats left to pull off is the mounts, exhaust and transfer case.

Surely it shouldn't take that much time to make the one on the left look like the other tongue.gif

I drive a humble old 95 Mitsi L200 twincab ute, and my main mount is my pride and joy.

Nice GTO, I sold my Burgundy TT recently, 1992 100k, You now they were NZ$155,000 new!

I never used it as we have an 06 Accord Euro Pearl 18k . Terrible car, its new , quiet, comfy, all the extras, reliable, its great!
As we hardy ever needed 2 cars I got a brand new Kawasaki Ninja 250 , blue, nice fun sports bike for commuting to work and any other needs.

Here's my latest work car. Got it mid Sept and done 11,000ks thought I would get some pics whilst it's still shiny.

Base model Mazda 6 (last one was a SP23 and before that a Sportshatch 6), but they come with all the toys nowdays like dual aircon, mp3 capable system with aux sockets for Ipod, cruise control, bluetooth built in. It drives smooth and when you want to have fun you can zoom zoom zoom around the Coromandel in tip tronic and it sticks like the proverbial to a blanket. Regardless, a free car and petrol is always a bonus (my first work car was a Primera and I thought that was flash!).

well my babies now twin turbo'd (engine swap took me a week, swapped engine, gearbox, transfer case, diff, driveshaft, ecu, loom, intercoolers, oil cooler, boost gauge etc). Its been going strong for a couple of thousand kms now so i think i did not to badly. Only problem i ran into was the front head exhaust cam seal was absolutely pissing oil out, ended up having to change it and the cambelt (timing a quad cam was surprisingly easier than i expected)

Shes just at the panelbeaters getting a couple of little niggly bits and pieces fixed up, and when it comes back home (should be tomorrow), ive got some factory fog lights, coilovers and adjustable rear camber arms to go on it tongue.gif Pics to come

A couple of pics of the swap

Well here is my first car, got it cheap off my mum as she got a new corolla..
It's only done 83k on the clock so engine is still 'fairly newish', it's a Pulsar lol, but its a sport model, so 1.8L instead of the 1.5L and it's also 18 Valve AWD for missions to the snow..goes ok and can sit on 140 no problem.
Just a temp solution for me until I decide what I'm after...

Here some pics after I gave it a late spring clean lol

Nissan Silvia until I move to NZ in April. Goes pretty well, fun to drive and cheap to run.
