After talking to the E police crime unit, i have no hope for this copyright theft thing ,they say there is no law under the crimes act that is stopping people uploading to the net ,i asked and got a clear answer, "quote from them" it is fine to go to the cd store buy copy and upload a torrent to the net as long as you are not making money out of it "HERE in New Zealand and Ozzy "
which leaves you feeling a little helpless if you are in the business of software ,only thing you can do is take them to court if you can get the lawyer that will represent you ..
My scenery is priced fairly after many years of over the top prices from others ,ive encountered some shocking stuff for more then 4X my prices which is just bad for all and i dont want to be part of there over the top rip offs

3d City /highend 3d international airport /7000 sqkm photoreal autogen all for only $14.95 now thats a deal winkyy.gif

Commerce has a way of dealing with trading issues.

Look at the way Sony failed to protect their music rights (By installing a rootkit on your computer)
Then look at how Apple just cleaned up with iTunes - a dollar here, a dollar there, full previews etc.
Even the Beatles finally got converted to the Apple religion.

Piracy is really just a symptom of a broken trading model.

BTW there really is nothing like a GOOD avocado.
And almost nothing worse than a BAD one...

Hmm, I've been thinking about this just now driving too and from a blood test (Yes! I have blood...)

Because of the way in which FS addons have developed recently, I think that we already have a different trading model to cope. Most of what we do came after the rise of the internet, and relies on it heavily. Piracy is in fact another byproduct of the rise of the net, so we factor it into our business, or not. I have done my fair share of raging against it, but in the end I find it counter-productive.

Mike is right, in that a good product promoted at a good price has a good chance of succeeding. The 'business model' we have grown into includes a 'preview', in the form of screenshots and videos, a community-based recommendation and support system, so it really depends on how easy and convenient it is to make a purchase as opposed to sourcing and downloading a copy from another source. I think that this is where there's room for improvement, in the whole area of ecommerce, but it is getting better, I think.

So actually we already have a good business model, with room to grow... I'm optimistic! There's still a few things to iron out, such as reaching more customers, but that's another goal set...

I thought the NZ govt was in the middle of ammending the copyright act?? I am shocked to read that it is leagal to upload to torrent a purchased cd without profit. I thought the law was better than that. I hope the final policy includes protection for all providers in the digital world. Not just the music/movie industry.

Its in no way legal to do this here in NZ or Ozzy ,though there is nothing done about it under our laws which makes it in someways fully ok to do so, as they will not enforce the copyright act because they dont have a law that covers it if you dont make money out of it , how bloody stupid our country is with no laws to defend our intellectual copyrights ..

Let down again by the Govt, they where suppose to have done something about it in the last Govt but Tax cuts and other things like the fighting against smokers is more important it seems ..whatever pirate.gif ..
