One benefit having a sound card is given model some depth ,example the Realair spitfire , I'm not sure on todays MB s it gives you a little more system resource helping it to run smoother .

On the realair spity - it sounds cr@p on any rig unless you have tried the new sound set then it's awesome. Any half decent motherboard thesedays have very good on board sound. It used to be that sound cards were the number 1 cause for system crashes and lockups while gaming. Don't know about now though, hav'nt used one in years and don't ever intend too. The only time you would ever need one is for a good home theater PC set up.

Ive just gone back to onboard with win7 cause my very costly sound card was not compatible with win7 at all ,so buyer beware of that one ,sound cards also have more output and input leads channels etc ,really unless you are some sound guy or your onboard sound buggers out you will not need one ..
Looks sweet to me good price ? all i have is my home stereo and a JBL 12inch sub which does do the rumble effect well in the seat ,i use headphones mostly which cost about the same as those speakers love a set for my TV though
Andrew , you can buy the same unit , With two less speakers brand new and the Whooper , what i use here , 30 bucks cheaper , few other dollars you can use for the Mic 20 bucks
