Vector Land Class Libraries + South Island Airfield Pack

Information and support relating to this forthcoming New Zealand Vector Land Class addon.

Postby toprob » Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:36 pm

This can be considered a beta at the moment, until Tim gets back, but I'll put these here for those who want to give them a go. I've combined the early libraries with a few promised airfield fixes in this first release.

This is for internal NZFF consumption only, so please don't announce this on any other forum. Let me know how you get on. You will need to own a working version of VLC to install the libraries. The other two airfields will install without the libraries, but they do use some library objects, so refer to the readme for issues.

EDIT:
Now available from the Vector Land Class website.

Robin,

I was just thinking to myself: Where can I find some more South Island airfields to replace my favourite FS9 versions, and you post this! I'll give the set a thorough workout and report what I find. And although you've probably heard this a hundred times, I'll say it anyway: The VLC is AWESOME!

Thanks,

David Gunson on Soviet ATC: "They have a super system there. When you want to fly from say Moscow to Leningrad, you are give three things: A height, a route and a speed. If you deviate from any of these three things you are joined by two MIG's on each wing and you land at the nearest available airfield. The passengers continue by coach, and the crew are never seen again. ... It's a super system, they don't get repetitive faults...

Oops ... went to visit the new location called Helicopters Hawkes Bay, and there are several large depressions in the ground between the plane and the buildings.
Makes for interesting taxing, I must say.

Apart from that ... I love the new additions ... Forest Field is awesome!

Those who let the installer add Ashburton to their scenery library may find that it doesn't work as intended -- to fix this:

Within FSX!:
Open the Scenery Library;
Find the entry for VLCGodzoneAshburton;
Press Edit Area;
Select the VLCGodzoneAshburton folder.
(Be aware that there will be the normal weirdness for Windows 7 users, but by now you should know how to deal with that.)

Sorry about that, just a missing character from a last-minute code change.

I purposefully didn't get into issues with duplicate scenery, so if you have any problems with elevations, flattens etc let me know.

I'll re-upload shortly. -- Done!

Yeah I had the problem with Ashburton but deleted and then reinstalled and all good. Ashburton loks great BTW...would now have to be my favourite small airfields!

Good to see Kaikoura back...mine has a slight problem with a hangar buried behind a lump.

A couple of people have mentioned the NZKI flatten -- once I figure out why it works on my system, I'll see what needs to be done.

EDIT: Before I redo a flatten, could you please confirm the following:

a) You have patched VLC to 1.01
b) You don't have the old Kaikoura scenery installed
c) You don't have anything in Scenery\World\Scenery relating to kaikoura -- search for 'kaik' or 'nzki'
d) You don't have a Kaikoura AFCAD-type file installed.

Oh, ok, in that case it was me who had a previous version installed:)
I seem to recall the same sort of problem with the FS2004 release of Kaikoura, sorry about that.
I'll replace the download shortly.
In the meantime, here's a quick fix:

Cheers, thanks for the debugging help -- thank goodness for the good old fashioned phone...

The Kaikoura upload now includes the proper flatten.
