Mission control ... we have a problem sad.gif

There seem to be two polls (maybe there's hard-coded limit to the number of entries???) ... and it won't accept my vote for the upper one sad.gif

Hi Adam there is a limit of 30 per question so I had put the question in again to get the last one in so will take my entry out for this month for now unless I can find a fix for it

Yes you can but :
NO you can not vote for yourself under the screenshot rules , they were written at the top in the older days, just need to let the comp take its own course and a winner will be found for the best shot .
Also voting for yourself or having multi accounts to vote for yourself is cheating ,if found out doing so your entry will be over/ finished and you will face the forums wall of shame without the prize something none of us want to see happen , IP addresses show up with account user and they show up with other accounts you may keep,, putting two and two together is pretty easy for the admin team and i know from personal experience when my misses joined up here on the forums i was contacted to see why it was happening ..
Keep it fair vote for someone else ,your time will come as a winner good luck to all in this comp .. clapping.gif

Amen to that Mike.
Also something that I think should be considered putting into the rules is to not discuss the progress of the polling as it is happening. It's certainly more than probable that discussing the two leading contenders (for example) will sway those yet to vote to simply put their vote into one or the other, rather than choosing their favourite without outside influences. Someone who is not leading to start with might be able to catch up if a voter has no idea of the front runners.
Just my opinion anyway, and what is done in another forum screenshot competition I attend smile.gif

I guess that Doug would have to make a decision on whether the rule against voting for yourself still applies -- I actually removed it when I was handling the comp, but this was more to do with the way I like to see the screenshot comp work -- minimal rules, most issues are 'arbitrated' by the voters. Personally I'd never vote for myself, but in some respects ruling against it is really asking some entrants to vote AGAINST themselves...

This is why I'd like to encourage a lot more people to actually vote, at the moment I think we have entrants + their friends voting, and nobody else, so the result can easily depend on how many friends you have, rather than the quality of your screenshot.

Out of 1200 members, I'd like to see at least 300 votes, but I guess that that'll never happen. Half that number would be good...

It's actually quite common to see an early frontrunner whose lead is whittled down during the month -- I suspect that one reason why that might happen is if they have solicited support from other members, but in the end just run out of friends... I'm not saying that this actually happens, but I do have an active imagination, and I have received a large number of PMs over the years asking for me to vote for a particular entry. I don't get these now, but maybe it's just that I've frightened off a lot of them... I will always vote for what I consider to be the best screenshot (I haven't made up my mind this month) and I would imagine that some members would consider that it is better to support your friends -- a difference of opinion which is quite valid, and probably can't be reconciled.

Contrary to popular belief, I prefer to have the minimum number of rules on the forum, especially with the comp.

Hey - I hope no-one's actually taking Marty's vote *seriously*!! My original comment was meant as a bit of a leg-pull on what I thought was just a bit of mischievous "fun". We all know Marty - and his sense of humour winkyy.gif

As to the rules thing in general ... if self-voting blocking is a facility that can be easily be done behind the scenes, then we don't need a rule for it ... it just wouldn't let you <??>.

Is it too late to change my entry? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
