I'm glad to see that MOTAT is getting some decent storage. The last time I was there was in the early 90's and it was a real shame to see such valuble aircraft rotting away. Looks like these aircraft are finally getting some decent treatment.

Its a shame the old R-4D here in chc cant be saved by Motat or anyone . She's just rotting away in a concrete coffin....one of only 2 left on the planet.....words fail me, very sad.
But good on Motat......but not before time.
I know it must be hard when you have to raise all the cash etc etc....but why take them if you cant look after them....but as i said...good on ya Motat ....now get down here and save this poor old lady we have.

Hi there,

Resurrecting this old thread as I am looking for photos of ZK-DMA which crashed up the back of Te Puke (where I am from) with John Martin at the controls.
Also thought I'd add that yes, the Agwagon has been used for glider towing in NZ. Bruce Drake towed with one at the 1995 World Gliding Champs at Omarama. Not sure of the rego, it might be in one of my old photos. I was there with GA200 Fatman VH-PRT.
Does anyone know if the Cera Agwagon for FS2004 will work in FSX?
Cheers

Try also asking in this forum. There are no pics of DMA there yet, but somebody may be able to help.

G'day Noooby, John recently published a book about that period of his life focusing a lot on his recovery. My copy is on loan to the in-laws at the moment, but I'm sure it has a few pics of DMA before and after the accident.

The Tauranga Tandem site seems to be down at the moment, but it has a link for ordering the book Tauranga Tandem Skydive

John wrote a book! Obviously he has far too much time on his hands winkyy.gif
I'll have to buy him a beer next time I'm back in NZ. Haven't seen him for quite a while.
Thanks for the info, I'll order a book from him. I've actually toyed with the idea of writing a book myself with stories of the last 20 years as an AME working in 33 different countries around the globe. Unfortunately I have trouble sitting still long enough to put pen to paper! smile.gif Plus I'm still too young and there are still countries I want to work in. Maybe one day.....

Small world eh? smile.gif
As for the Cera 188, it does work in FSX... With the usual prop texture issues (although they are nowhere near as bad with the 3-blade) and the cockpit windows/screen look quite tinted from the outside, while being totally black from the inside. Unfortunately the glass textures aren't separately mapped and are part of the cockpit map, so someone else may have the patience/skill to fix that.
Swapped the sounds for the Carenado C185 while I was at it.

That is a shame that the Cera 188 doesn't work so well. I might buy it anyway for my FS9 and have a tinker with the textures to see if anything can be done for FSX.
Strangely the strip where John crashed is one of my favourites in FSX for the Cresco! I posted on the Wings over NZ forum and someone came up with a photo of DMA there, which is cool.
With a name like alfashark you're not also affected by the alfa romeo virus are you?

Sad ending - why? That accident was in 1985. EJL was re-built and to my knowledge EJL is still flying as is Greg Bayliss.

Just remove the window texture altogether and it all works well apart from the prop thing you mentioned Alfashark...

There were no fatalities...its left blank. If there were there would be a number(s) next to "Fatalities: Fatalities: / Occupants:"

Lol - I know for a fact Greg Bayliss is alive. He flies for Central South Island Helicopters and was their Cresco pilot at Twizel - he's now converting to helos. Hes the guy I modelled in my Cresco ZK-PKB!

I think you will find that the article you are looking at is missing lots of data as Naki said there are no numbers against the fatalities/occupants field.

If you want more proof - look here - I'm pretty sure Central South Island Helos don't employ corpses !!
