Show of respect for the people of CHCH

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby Adamski » Mon Feb 28, 2011 7:36 pm

Over the past week, I've been feeling decidedly ill at ease posting on NZFF knowing that there's been so much loss of life and real *suffering* down in Christchurch.

We're due to have 2mins silence tomorrow (Tuesday) ... but I wonder whether it'd be a good idea to close NZFF for 24hrs out of RESPECT for all concerned - be they victims, survivors, emergency services or helpers.

A polite, respectful splash screen - nothing beyond that - other than maybe a link to the disaster fund.

I know many of the affected people in CHCH itself would want life to go on as quickly as possible, but it's not about that - it's a chance for all people outside CHCH to show that they *care* - and that, when it drops out of the news in the usual obscenely short space of time, that we *still* care.

Thoughts?

Adam , Close NZFF is a nice gesture , 'end off the day' i think it best left to keep open , could simply be a 'life link' if the we get an unwelcome shake , this has already proven to be off help with many around the city .

I agree with Ian, and being in Christchurch it is quite nice to be able to escape to NZFF every now and then smile.gif I know that there are lots who don't have internet down here, but for those that do I believe that having NZFF online allows us another way to connect with our friends (NZFF Family perhaps?) outside of Christchurch.

I say, leave it up, aknowledge the loss, observe the 2 min silence and think of those who have suffered.
