Tell ya what...if that shot goes on the masthead, Doug gets a free entry to a Continuing Adult Education course entitled "Cropping the Impossible", and you get the A2A.

I know what you mean - but then, many of the shots I've seen over the years at NZFF have looked pretty hard to crop to me. So much so, that I often think people are voting more on "the screenshot" than on "the masthead" it may (or may not produce). I used to pre-crop mine to a fairly narrow letter-box format - and haven't won since (or even come close laugh.gif).

I think if we're voting for *a masthead* then the rules ought to stipulate that the aspect ratio of the shot should be around 4:1 (Marty's above is 1021 x 240). However - if we're just voting on a *screenshot* then, as you say, Doug may need to get "creative" laugh.gif. I'm usually pretty impressed by the transformation of screenshot to masthead.

David Gunson on Soviet ATC: "They have a super system there. When you want to fly from say Moscow to Leningrad, you are give three things: A height, a route and a speed. If you deviate from any of these three things you are joined by two MIG's on each wing and you land at the nearest available airfield. The passengers continue by coach, and the crew are never seen again. ... It's a super system, they don't get repetitive faults...

Well done Doug, who'd have thought...seems banner-cropping is an artform in its own right!
