Actually... is something wrong with my FSX?
VLC now that I look for closely is not behaving as it perhaps should. I decided to recreate on the fine screenshots from the VLC selection:
(if Robin or Tim don't want it hotlinked, feel free to change my post)

So I went to the same place for a look, and this is what it looks like for me. That lush green forest is just not there. And I'm not talking about autogen. I mean that dark green landclass running up the slopes to the snow. Even my snow looks different. Should I perhaps reinstall FSX to fix this? I don't believe I have installed any other ground textures to my sim (I could be wrong of course). Autogen is on "dense" in this example. I don't have default trees, I'm running low resolution trees.

But here is my effort in the same place: Summer and Winter for comparison
Summer:

Winter:

Any thoughts on what I should do? Reinstalling should be ok.
Cheers

Fixed!
I did have a problem. Something I installed must have changed a landclass file on me.
I deleted my texture folder firstly, then used the discs to 'repair' my installation. Just in case I had faulty textures.
That didn't fix anything, so it had to be a bgl somewhere right? So I went hunting around my folders. In the SCENERY/BASE/SCENERY folder is a bgl called lclookup.bgl.
It was dated Jan 2007, whereas everything else in that folder was original files dated 2006. This had to be the culprit. And it was. I deleted it then repaired FSX again to install the original (then reinstall SP1 and SP2) and the results speak for themselves.

I never realised VLC was THIS good!! Wow biggrin.gif I'm going to delete my other post and will post some new pics with VLC showing properly..

I'm glad you got that sorted Alister, it had me a bit stumped. The shapes look right, so there are parts of VLC showing, but the textures were wrong. Since the NZ bush textures are actually included in VLC, I would have thought they would always show up, but I think that an edited lclookup would do that -- which is why it is considered a no-go by a lot of developers.

Cheers Robin. I'm glad I got it sorted too. Didn't realise what I was missing out on.
Hopefully in the future if someone else has this problem this might help you help them find a resolution.
kind regards,

Yep it certainly is a weird one.....presumably something went wrong in application of either the MS SP1 or SP2 patch- Glad you got it sorted though. It appears there needs to be mention of this kind of thing on the website or a troubleshooting guide

The custom bgl come with a few addons specifically SceneryTechs landclass's.
A suggestion for a no worries fix....What about just including the default lclookup.bgl file that you use into the "VectorLandClass\Scenery" folder with the installer, that works. I use the modded version as a base, and the defaults are in my TongasX and VLC folders. No conflicts at all.

Spot the differences...... they are quite substantial.
