Hi All,
My system Windows 7 64bit Pro
I downloaded Version 01.47.7 of ADE as I wanted to adjust some afcad files in FSX. I could not get the update 1.47.11 to update from their website. The program says that I am running the latest version, so I manually followed the instructions to update with 1.47.11 again from their website. The result was the program would not load after that with quite a long errror message which I cannot remember what it was. Anyway I reinstalled the original version again to get it working. This should probably be posted on their website however this post is going to have some local content.
Now I quess the 01.47.7 version has got some issues otherwise there would not have been another update and I have not tried to install the update again to see the error message. Anyway..............
The example I want to use is the excellent work done by craigud on Invercargill for FSX. Because I wanted to arrange some AI aircraft to appear at NZNV I discovered that the afcad created for this airport has 3 orphant parking areas and the one that my 737 spawns in is one of them. When it is time to go it just disappears. You can fix up the problem quite easily using ADE or so I thought. However when you load up the bgl file to edit I noticed that all the airport buildings show up as a black square. But that maybe OK it is just a colour. It has a very long file name with the file as unknown. When it comes to compiling it compiles with no errors however the new bgl that is created will not display any airport buildings because they have vanished from the bgl. This was compiling from the ad2 file that you save as per the instructions.
Does anybody know why this could be happening?
What am I doing wrong?
Is it the version of ADE that I am using?
Is it a setting that I have overlooked?
I have installed FSX Deluxe Edition & Acceleration, SDK'S etc.
The airport buildings display as the author intended using the orginal bgl.
Your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated as my knowledge is very limited indeed on this subject.
Cheers,
Daryl

Upon further investigation it would appear that you have to add the scenery bgl's to the ADE database using the Library Objects Manager. I have done that and the scenery is now showing up....... There is alot to learn. You seem to spend more time changing things adding things than actually doing any flying..................

Flying - what is that? Lol - welcome to the wonderful world of design - where half your time is spent compiling and waiting for FS to load up, so you can spend a moment to check something before making a tweak and repeating the process!!
