I'm still not quite sure why the British did that. I might have to investigate further.

A bit of research says the 15 wasn't influenced at all by the 183. Interesting.

I have tried to find out but gave up ... snooper spy,s were everywhere back in those days .. gave the engines away but for no reason , maybe to appease to the Russian FEAR?

Wiki says to foster better relations. Could be but I'm doubting that.

Supposedly they didn't know the engine had been copied for the MiG15 until 1958 and a visit to Beijing the RR GM. But the US had one defect years before that. So either the RAF didn't tell RR (unlikely) after the exploitation was completed or the US didn't tell the UK the results of the exploitation (even more unlikely).

I love the Ta-152, I think it is one of the most elegant planes.
