Rain, earthquake (See the news says a 4.3 quake in Marlborough region last night)...these are not good enough reasons to skip the airshow - unless the Mossie doesn't make it.
I'm still camped out at Ardmore waiting for the sound of twin Merlins, nothing as yet.

What a great group photo...my vote is it goes on the May NZFF masthead, and the monthly prize goes to the best caption!
My entry: Deane just told everyone that the internet is down, and the only connection is at the Post Shop, dial-up.
Marty as we know, fled the scene...

Yep.....its good to be home.(not)..we only had 4 shakes yesterday, and 6 so far today dry.gif bloody place, Im sick of it. 24 hours up in Marlborough and Im ready to move there.
Re the pic...your right, we look like a seroius bunch dont we....Doug and Ian look real grumpy laugh.gif

No, I was referring to an earlier post when it seemed possible the Mossie might be done in time for Omaka.
Haven't seen much information forthcoming on that project, I thought one might have to camp on the Ardmore approach to know for sure.

Ok - unfortunately the Mossie had been scratched from the airshow line-up for the last few months, so there was no expectation down here. Unfortunately the FW-190 has also been grounded, but luckily some of us got to see it fly before the airshow and it is being based at Omaka after the show.

Having somewhere to stay and congregate close to the airshow added a lot to the whole experience, thanks to Doug and his wife for their amazing hospitality. I spent some time 'flying' Doug's triple screen setup, it's pretty impressive, butter-smooth performance and visuals. Gives me something to aim for.

Thanks for all the comments guys it was a pleasure having you here and putting some faces to some of the NZFF members names we all see on here.
Although Ian didnt fair to well after his trip up after a heap of pills on Saturday he was starting to perk up a bit by Saturday night and starting to look more like himself by Sunday morning.
We got Nick (choppernut) away very early yesterday morning on the start of his flight to aussie so hope he has a few good days across the ditch.
Today is a misty light rainy sort of day but still have a few aircraft heading home just watch one of the spities lift off and disappear into the murk, hope he finds his way home OK also heard the Harvards running up motors so presume they have got away safely heading for home also.
Well we will see how it is all going in a couple of years time maybe we can set up the camp again for the next Classic fighters show.

Well I tried to catch up but....

despite being in Malborough all weekend and enjoying a slow drive around Queen Charlotte Sound (with tricopter and camera) on Thursday, I got the 24 hour bug from hell Friday nite and shed some serious liquid... I made Friday practice afternoon in time to see the FW190 land, closely followed by a 1hr nap in the car!!!

Saturday back to recovering

Sunday - I was there nearly all day but never caught up with anyone sad.gif

Back in Hamilton with the flu!!! Thanks South Island!!!!!!!

Dont worry Pete , two year time we will try it again ... this was a test run - between you me and aeroplanes breaking down and the weather , it made for my worst airshow ever , only thing that perked me up was recover mode in the evening with a lotta help from great friends and family smile.gif

Hey Ian, remember when we were talking about films on Saturday night, well I found a clip of Strategic Air Command. Couldnt find the best bit in the film though.
