Heh cheers Ian, sadly the other machine wouldnt make a banner crop, but yeah was good timing.
Truth be known, I'm not much of a morning person, so pretty unlikely I'd be up takin shots at this time laugh.gif

I'm sure the difficulty of screenshot competitions has at least doubled in the few months I've been here. Great to see! thumbup1.gif

First post on this forum, so go easy on me!!

Thought I would start here with a screenshot, showing the Carenado C-182Q over the Chatham Islands(free VLC update, around 10 nm NNE of the field).

Just wondering, would anyone know how to take the shot without the toolbar down the bottom popping up(using recommended screen hunter)? I cut it out, but as you can see it's left a dirty grey strip down the bottom of the shot.

I know it won't win, but I guess I can only learn from here, right? Next stop sharpening the image huh.gif

Cheers,
Joe.

Get your basic 'Paint.Net', a freebie - it has cropping and other useful screenshot editing tools to get rid of what you don't like. Your composition is very good - a few jaggies but nothing that can't be handled with editing.

Hi Joe welcome to NZFF great effort for first screen shot post and don't worry to much about all this editing and sharpening up of the pic take the NZFF Banner at the top it is a screen shot capture from FSX and the only editing that it had was the second plane added no sharpening or enhancement and it won last months competition laugh.gif

Sounds like you're doing a system screengrab of some sort. I don't use any fancy capturing utilities - I just use the "V" key from within FSX, which plonks a full size BMP file in your "My Documents" directory. Even if you have the menus showing in FSX, it will ignore them.

BTW - welcome!!!

Welcome aboard Joe thumbup1.gif Great screen.....and some good advise from the old screen shooters as well. I agree with Adam (for once tongue.gif ) just whack the "V" key to take the shot....i only use screenhunter in FS9 otherwise i find it a bit messy to use. ......and if you forget to turn it off you end up taking screenshots of everything , if your "shoot" key is one you use a lot.

Another thing i learnt , is dont over sharpen.....i used to do it all the time....trying to get that super crisp look, but when you see the final result it actually looks a bit odd....and more Adam advise, leave the sharpen untill the very end.
I like the angle of your screen , and the lighting.....good job, looking forward to many more thumbup1.gif thumbup1.gif

Here's mine - Bogdan Misko's repaint of the Carenado Seneca enjoying a beautiful day over the Marlborough Sounds ...

... replaced by Hanna (Heidi's sister) on an early morning spin in the Hauraki ...
