Sunset Gliding

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Having a ball with the new computer (not to be called a 'gaming' computer). I am trying out all my add-ons again to have tidy up, but one that is definitely staying is the Aerosoft Discus. Nice to fly around without an engine sometimes (not in a Cessna though!), and enjoy the great views. Test flight here at sunset.

If anybody has flown one of these, can you tell me if the wings really do creak that much in flight.

Smooth landings.

Nice shots HappyT I especially like shot 3. You're making wish that I was still flying with the gliding club....

Beautiful mate thumbup1.gif
That looks like the K (competition aerobatics) model with the shorter wings... I just got the regular B/CS/M and T pack, but yes if you wind on a bit of G they do make some loud noises and here's why:

This picture is from a Hornet, but the discus is similar - the inboard ends of the spar stubs overlap and a single steel pin is pushed through from front to back, locking them. After a few rigs and de-rigs, there is a tiny amount of play between the bushes and the locking pin. Since the wings and fuse are mostly hollow, the creaking and knocking is amplified and you end up with just what Aerosoft put in that soundpack wink.gif

Thanks for the detailed info, now I know what the creaking noise is!!! Sounds like an old sailing ship at times.

Great add-on though and nice change from the powered aircraft. Got it from Aerosoft, good value too.

smooth landings.
