The heart is a lonely hunter

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

The usual fun and games with the monthly screencomp ... with the usual crop of rejects that were fun to take.

#1 : Here's my "Top Gun" poster clone! Wondering whether this is better than my current entry (WWII trio over Milford Sound) ...

#2 : Lake Tekapo ... I think!

#3 : Giving the Herc a close-up of my afterburner!

#4 : Lost near Wanaka ...

#5 : Hmmm ... maybe back *that* way!

#6 : Now where did I put my GPS?

#7 : Another day, another Hunter ... looks like it's raining down there in the Waitakeres.

Very nice, especially the first and second ones. Which Hunter is that? Ive always loved them as an aeroplane. I worked for a guy at Wellington Airport who flew them in anger and he reckons it was the best aeroplane he ever flew.

Thanks! It's the Virtavia/Alphasim one. Not quite as fancy as many of the newer add-ons, but the VC is OK ... and the exterior models are a joy to look at. Such a classic "schoolboy" jet. My local airfield (Kemble) back in the UK specialised in restoring them. I once saw 16 in the air at once!!

Thanks Paul, Mar[t]y ... I was thinking of entering that one, but it really won't crop into a banner awfully well sad.gif

@Ian not sure what we're promoting [Rob] ... RealNZ, VLC .. or just NZ as a whole! I don't think Rob needs any help from me winkyy.gif ("sucking eggs" springs to mind laugh.gif).

I must say, though, I'm always amazed at the amazing screens you can get in FSX - it makes any combat sim I have look so soul-less. With a country as photogenic as NZ, you can take up any aircraft, point the camera in any direction - all looks incredible. Hell, even an Airtruk can look good! (did I just say that?? laugh.gif).

Your scenery is really working - loved them all. Carson McCullers wrote a wonderful novel.

Ooooh ... what to do???? I know it's a woman's prerogative and all that ... I'm kind of attached to that Milford Sound trio ... I mean, it's got 6 Merlins in it, fer chrissakes.

#1 is definitely my front runner ... it'll crop OK if rotated a bit. I think I'll just stare at all of them for another couple of weeks winkyy.gif

There again, I could register my twin sister, Olga (from the Volga) and pass off the Milford Sound as one of hers. She's very versatile, if you know what I mean laugh.gif
