Not sure who's this is but got it here:

http://www.fs-freeware.net/flight-simulato...roflot-Tupolev/

I wanted the glass nose but this doesn't have it, - doesn't have any sort of cockpit either, but looks great from the outside and the engines sound awesome. I guess it would be easy enough to use the famous green cockpit with it if you wanted to. NATO codename is Crusty for those that find TU 134 a bit tricky.

My usual local flight over Manukau Harbour, west of Auckland Airport.

That's the SCS model. Freeware, but it looks like someone just illegally and incompletely uploaded part of the package to that website. It should come with an additional glass nose model, and a very nice 2D panel set. (no VC)

Latest version is 1.2. Click on the picture of 1.2 to download:

Every time I look at that 'Aeroflot' in Cyrillic alphabet, I ask myself was there really a Russian named Cyril?

Thanks guys, as ever, for the insightful comments.

Cyril, - yeah... rolleyes.gif

I tried the other two paints that came with the model and hey presto, - glass nose!

This one seems to be a domestic airline that I've never heard of:

The other one (below) might be some other airline, or possibly the government? It has a spike behind the tail, - perhaps radio-related or a defensive spear (against careless interceptors), and extra guys in the nose. I imagine the one between the pilots is the flight engineer and the one in the nose the navigator, though the whole idea of the glass nose originally, I believe, was that it could be quickly converted into a bomber (hence the flat plate at the bottom). Kinda ugly with pixels this close up. Nice model though and fun to fly, - might get the latest version, - thanks for that, Sean.

Ever since 2002 , the Russians have really pushed ahead - the modelling is superb smile.gif , biggest thing the chance to take one for a spin .

LOL. As a former civil servant (as I gather you are too?) I can relate!

"Who do we send it to, x?"

"Nah, they've merged functions with y, they're known as g now."

"...I'm just going to send to it to head office."

Do you mean the night ones or the government ones?

I probably should've put all this in the Soviets are invading sticky but I only just discovered that so apologies to Soviet invading fans. It looks like a very good thread, not to mention long, - I'm planning to check it out more. smile.gif

Thanks. I kinda like the night ones but not everybody's cup of tea I guess. I think there's something mysterious and interesting about a plane flying through the night sky. Seems almost more miraclulous than during the day...
