Takes all sorts I s'pose.
But I have to admit to my shame I derated this thread from +5 to -5 when I saw the F-14 placed in the second line.
I realised too late:
1. It's a Splitpin thread not an Adamski thread, and
2. Adam made a little mistake, and a quiet word in a dark alley would've seen that swiftly corrected.
Sorry, chaps.

Well Adam , guess you cover then 60s to today for the US armed forces but if you see a Lancer come cruzing in across a city you would change your mind . Elegant would be the chosen word .

As for Helicopters its not pooh pooh pooh .... its more chook chook chook tongue.gif

For some reason, the F-14 never looked "right" to me, whereas the F-15 is so elegant ... and the F-16 is a beauty.

But of course, they're all horrible capitalist planes laugh.gif ... and nothing compared to the Su-27 (or even MiG-29 at a push).

Getting back on-topic ... the Tornado isn't a "natural" beauty, but somehow *does* look "right". Interesting how we all see things so differently!

@Ian ... I've seen a few Lancers at shows .. they *almost* look right ... but I have to admit - they looked pretty menacing/frightening.

Built for purpose...to carry a Phoenix missile.
Form follows function.
I uploaded this in 1080p, turn up the volume to do it justice

I do like Flankers too, but the Tomcat...aahh there is magic.

Great video, Charl ... it's a stunning model isn't it? Great sound too! I must admit, the detail is really quite appealing thumbup1.gif

Does it need Acceleration to run - or will SP2 do?

Strangely, though, the better the military planes are in FSX, the more disappointed I am that you can't "do stuff" with all that fancy hardware. I won the CS Weapon FX thing as a prize and it's seriously awful. Of all things to win!

I suppose my favourite "movie" sim has to be LOMAC series ... some unbelievable videos out there. At least in LOMAC you can get a bit destructive ... but I never last long enough to make it to the target zone!

B-1B censored2.gif bad or B-1B censored2.gif good? IMV its stunning with its long flowing lines....not forgetting the power and noise it generates...and dont stand behind one when it takes off!

PS: Brendan, how do i get that heat haze in a specific area, and not all over the screen?

Make a selection of the required area first, then apply the filter.

Neither...I do not speak FSX, at all.
But Ian knows his product: freeware FS9 Iris F-14 reworked by Steve Hinson.

The F-15E Strike Eagle is the one US aircraft I would take to any war, any time, however.

Yep ... and don't forget to use a "feathered" selection so the edges are soft ...
