Classic Wings will have some good coverage covering the show in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for it.

The vineyard made for a great backdrop this year.

Although it did not put on any flying displays at Classic Fighters it was great to have the FW190 on the field. Took this one early on the practice day.

I was at Ardmore flying with the P-40C Tomahawk during the first flight of the 190 and heard it take off over the sound of the Harvards engine I was in the back of when we flew chase plane during the second flight (I think) so I havent heard it fly in anger so to speak but from the Harvard it sounded like the La-9 but a bit more grumpy due to the exhaust set up it has.

Quite noisy on the inside as well according to Frank.

We were at 4500ft during that flight and watching Frank doing a zoom climb a few miles away was a great view and the camo was quite effective, the aeroplane sure does look great in the air.
Once Frank was happy he came in nice and close for one orbit or 90 seconds so we did get a pic or two, I spent to much time gawking as it was pretty amazing to have this aircraft flying at Omaka.

A couple of days earlier we were about to go flying with the Tomahawk at Ardmore and I got a text saying the 190 was about to fly so rang a mate and got a running commentary of the first 190 take off, was bloody exciting and I never even saw it!!!
Then while in the air 30 minutes or so later trying to get some good photos of the Tomahawk on our tail, my phone starting going nuts in my pocket as a lot of people let me know about the undercarriage issue that the 190 had that got sorted but it is a bit hard case as to how fast news travels these days and how some people sort of become news broadcasters.

Great action shot....obviously the lens fore-shortened the range somewhat or there may have been a couple of missing
heroes in photo 2. laugh.gif

The head-on shot is pretty amazing! Great group portrait too, what a lucky bunch of aviators!

Quite like the way the heat haze from the Tomahawk has blurred out the Kittyhawk.

I reckon - check my avatar - theres about 6 feet of ladder between me feet and the ground there! Amazing comparison between ZK-COR and the P-40 next to it inside the SVAS hangar at Hood...
