Hey Doug, seeing as there are multiple prizes why dont you make the poll a "select multiple options" sort of poll?
It may be too late I guess if voting has already started, but I think we should consider this for next months comp
I'm not sure whether the (in-built) voting functions allow anything too fancy
However - you could always split it ... take (say) the top 6 from round one then revote on those for round 2 ...

I think I have enough work doing it the way it is now without adding more to it.
It has been working OK so fare and isn't broken and I don't believe in trying to fix something that isn't broken.![]()

If we get up to the stage where we are getting 100 or more entries which I don't expect will ever happen then maybe things will have to change.
As for multiple prizes that is not going to happen very often only when we get a good sponsor like the one that has sponsored the 4 prizes for this one and may I ad may do the same again for the Christmas one in December fingers crossed.Last edited by dbcunnz on Fri Jul 01, 2011 9:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Which brings me to my pet peeve -- does anyone who doesn't enter actually vote? Members total about 30 times the number of entries here, but we can't even push the number of votes past the number of entries. Think of this as practise for the general election later this year, and make it your duty to vote! All members can vote, it only takes a few seconds, go on, I dare ya!

Weird, isn't it? At the moment - there are 50 votes - for 50 entries.

And course , we don't see any other members joining the fun all the 1700 plus ... as far as the GE is concerned ...

Just as an example....ME.
No entry (lack of artistic merit) and a vote ...not easy either.

Come on Baz, you have 50 people here that can help you out and get you trained up , maybe that what we need is a school here to teach and show the tricks , just simply have to ask for a tutor and away you go

I find the easiest thing is to put your aircraft in auto-pilot, jump into outside view and just watch ... scroll around .. hit that "V" key whenever you fancy. I'm constantly amazed at what FSX can serve up. Mind you - I have REX dynamic weather on all the time, so it's different every time.
As to "artistic merit" - sometimes the shot just composes itself... anyway, though the entries are generally extremely high in quality, there still seems a huge variation in expertise - and often many votes go in unpredictable directions (such is democracy!!!) ... so it's always worth putting *something* in! Winning isn't the thing. In all my submissions, I think I've only one once ... but it's still great fun trying.

yep you guessed it they wont be posted until after midnight when the 4 winners will all be posted
I thought that the ballot wouldn't happen till after the vote was complete. Does that mean a vote winner could *also* get a ballot prize? Could be interesting!

Unfortunately each member can only receive one prize from this comp so if it happens that one of the top 2 in the vote were to receive a prize from the ballot then the next one down the voting list will pick up the other prize.

I don't think it makes us look to good to our [very generous] sponsors either
I think the issue here is that this forum is supported to a large extent by a pretty small number of regulars....comparatively speaking.
The last couple of years has seen a number of people join on and take over a very active part in proceedings, (thank god) and we know who they are.
Quoting the overall number of persons registered is a forlorn exercise that every forum I have ever belonged to has a problem with.
Many people join, post a couple of times and are never seen or heard of again - maybe someone told them to join to get a particular piece of "addon" and they
have never come back after that.
What would the membership be if every everyone who hasn't responded in the last 18 months was deleted...?
The other point is that of recent times, screenshots have become almost the driving point of the forum, especially after VLC was done and dusted. No problems for me as I like pretty, artistic pictures,
however there are other aspects to the hobby.
Bit of devil's advocate stuff here...hope it's not misinterpreted.
