Finally got the dreaded 'out of available memory' crash.

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

This morning, just for laughs, I was running with all sliders maxed and res set at 2448. After about twenty minutes we locked up. My setup is XP/32 with E8500/3.16, GTX460, RAM4gb and I'm using the 'boot.ini' tweak 'userva2560'. I've got a ton of planes and several tons of scenery. Does it sound like I'm limited out or is there something left to do?

The userva switch (along with the /3GB one, are you using that) fixed things for me. You might wanna look at reducing the userva setting progressively as outlined following and see if that helps any...

Took it down 128 so will see how that goes. Methinks my 32 bit days are numbered.

I was getting those errors as well even on 64bit when I only had 4gig or ram, I increased the VM to double (8gig min/max) and the oom errors went away. Worth a try.

I'm assuming when you increased your Virtual Memory you also increased your physical memory sticks. Unfortunately 32bit XP recognizes only 3.5gb (out of 4 max) and besides my MOBO has only two dimm slots, each with a 2gb stick.

No that was before boosting the physical memory. I costs nothing to try .

I will. What I need to do is study up on overclocking my E8500 duo - from all I've read, a good candidate. though I'll probably need to improve the cooling.
