Add on scenery?

I added Norfolk photoreal today with no hassels. I did a flight form there to Lord Howe, when I got there the trees looked strange, they looked like they were trying to be the one's at Norfolk, but failing badly.

When going from one area to another can the objects from one area corrupt the other??

Which Lord Howe scenery were you using, Aerosoft or Orbx? I know that there is an Orbx fix for the aerosoft version so that the two can work together. Wonder if this might be the problem that you had????

smooth landings.

The Lord Howe I was using was the default, and the Norfolk, thanks to Snowmans site, was John, Robin, and Ians' freebe... very nice too I might add.

Here's a screenshot of the approach to Lord Howe, notice the black squares, at the bottom you can see the tree in amongst one of them.

For augments sake Later on I loaded up the default Lord Howe with the same Spit just to see the trees and they were all fine.

Thanks for the help. smile.gif

Lord Howe , you may want to research it , there must be photos to give you a better description , Most all world default areas are incomplete , ie: Mesh /Landclass , if you progress further into the FS world it wont change unless you have scenery addon packages .

Cheers Ian thanks for the reply,I think you misunderstand my point though. I wasn't expecting any change in Lord Howe I was more interested in just getting there.

I was just wondering when flying from one area to another if a scenery add on can interfere with the next area.

For instance I think I read somewhere when flying to Australia you have to turn off VLC half way because it can interfere with scenery add ons there?? Please correct me if i'm wrong, I may have dreamt it.

In the case of autogen vegetation, the textures are global, so you can only have one set active, so yes, if you have more than one addon which changes the default autogen textures then they will affect each other if you are not careful. However you can't just turn off a scenery to stop this, as the autogen textures are not included in the scenery folder. With VLC, you run the config tool and unselect the autogen textures.

By the way, Norfolk doesn't change any autogen textures.

But I don't think this is the problem here -- if you get textures changing without making any changes to your scenery, then it's more than likely to be a display problem. Autogen was one issue dealt with by the service packs -- do you have SPs installed?

Yep I have acceleration so SP1 and 2 are there.

So with VLC I have to unselect outogen textures in config tool when going to another country?? This maybe the issue? Is that a VLC tree in the screenshot?

When starting a fresh flight from default Lord Howe these trees don't happen, everything appears as it should, only happened when coming from another area.

Thanks for the reply.

No, as I said I don't think this is your problem. Even if VLC changes textures, they still look like trees, whereas yours look like black squares.

Cheers for that Snowman, I found that scenery at the oz site, looking forward to redoing the sir Frances flight with appropriate scenery.

He ended up going all the way to Japan so will research the whole trip, I quite like the whole historical aspect of a trip like this.

Thanks again. smile.gif
