Traffic X

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby scaber » Sun Sep 18, 2011 9:37 am

I see that Traffic X is available for $19.95 from JustFlight at the moment (usually $34.95). I'm finding myself a little tempted by the thought of this and wonder if any of you have had experience with it and whether it lives up to the advertising hype.

Any comments, critiques and other comments would be welcome.

Edit - meant to mention that I have been using the Orbx free AI Traffic and find it's ok for NZ and Aus but things are a bit quite outside those regions.

Interesting, the pictures look ok to me - at least as good as the default AI, and it's not like I want to get up close to them or anything, it's just the impression of a few more things in the sky and on the airports that I'm looking for.

After Defaults and freeware Traffic X is shocking , when released 5 years back , considered the bees knees .. Boeings entire series look nothing like them , I have it here , easy enough to reinstall and let you have a look .

I uninstalled it and replaced it with UT2. The only advantage it has over UT2 is also has Mil Traffic, but as Mr Warren said the AI models are not flash.

It does have a few nice things like driveable Follow Me Van and towing tractor too.

Takeoff's are optional. Landings are mandatory.

I actually quite like it as a straightforward replacement for the the default stuff - I use the FTX AI for NZ and Oz and TrafficX for the rest of the world and no matter where I fly there is 'regional appropriate' airlines flying around me which I enjoy. Some of the models are a bit primitive but only a problem 'up close' but the upside is not much FPS impact. It all runs off a standard traffic BGL file so there is so extra bits running to cause any problems. If you just want a plug and play solution to get rid of the default generic airlines it works well, if you want to tweak and fiddle - not so good...

Cheers, Wayne

What about World of AI? That's completely free.
