REX2 FireWall Alert

The place to ask for help or solve each others technical issues and discuss hardware

Postby dbcunnz » Mon Oct 03, 2011 1:30 am

For some reason when I start REX2 and try to load WX it won't connect to the internet I keep getting this.

FIREWALL ALERT
Please make sure rexwxengine2.exe has an in/out bound access via your firewall

I have Win 7 Ultimate x64 and have MS Firewall also have just loaded COMODO Firewall

It had been working well until about a week ago when all this cr@p started it goes to downloading the weather and stops at 4% then this alert comes up
Been into the firewall config and tried to re configure rexwxengine2.exe but still no luck tried downloaded and installed COMODO Firewall and tried with just that one on and then with both the firewall turned off and still get the same message.
I even uninstalled and reinstalled REX2 but made no difference.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this problem

There's a lot of discussion about this on the REX forum, although nothing there has helped me with this. Apparently this is a generic error message, so it doesn't always mean an issue with your firewall. I get the message all the time, but when I dismiss it the weather loads anyway.

Mine also seems to load the weather but is not loading it through to FSX.
Every time it tries to update the weather this alert message comes up so I am getting this message about every ten minutes but no REX weather in FSX angry.gif

Been getting this message too lads. Did some reading on Saturday after Googling the error message. Couldn't find any solutions really.

Seems to be a universal problem. I still use XP and G-data security which has a very staunch firewall. When the 'REX unable' message appears, I've tried disabling the firewall but makes no difference. By the time FSX has loaded, here's the green band across the top telling me REX is doing its thing and it seems to be.

Just as a matter of interest, what sort of network setup do you have, Doug? And anyone else with this issue -- any changes to your network lately? I'm particularly interested in other users on the network, such as family laptops, ipads etc.
Today my REX was working perfectly all day, now its not, one of the things which has changed is that my daughter is home from uni and using the laptop...

OK have installed REX2 version 2.3.2010.1027 and after 3 or 4 tries it has downloaded the WX without any firewall alert coming up so looks like the new version fixes the problem thumbup1.gif

You will need to update to REX Overdrive version 20101027 and yep it is a whopping 3.4GB download from http://rexoverdrive....SX_20101027.zip
So if you want the two new versions of REX and Overdrive you are up for 6.6GB of downloads pirate.gif
