Have a friend whose fsx screen has started to go black after 30- 40 minutes of flying then crashes and reboots has been good for several years, the computer had a few issues and i believe the ram needed to be replaced

FWIW - yes, I've recently had a similar problem and it turned out to be a faulty ram stick in a pair of 2. I had to experiment with removing and re-installing the sticks individually to find the faulty one..... simming now on a paltry 2gb sad.gif

RAM , requires to be the same type and best to be all new at the same time and for FSX 4mg on XP , double that for Win7 .

Power suppy will cause your PC to goto sleep as would a tied MB when operating , you friend has had it running before , power supply will do that , really, information is to vague but be cheaper to PC gurus here to put a closer recon on the problem before taken to a shop .

glad its not on my sim however with the new pc I do get the odd crash when using the menu bar in flight on windows 7 which is frustrating. I must get around to doing a write up and post some photos of the sim I have built also
