very envious of such a good shot. I wonder though, what sort of zoom you had on the camera to get this shot. Always a pleasure to look at the air to air photos,

Thanks, focal length was 50mm, John Lamont flies amazingly well when it comes to getting shots like this.

Here he is getting into position for the photo, was quite a view thats for sure.

Well to get a photo like that top one with a 50mm lens is quite incredible. John Lamont would need to fly brilliantly if he was that close!!! If you can do that with a 50mm lens, then it goes to show that a big zoom is not essential (although perhaps it helps!!).

Seeing a great shot like this makes me want to go out and take more photos myself.

John flew really well and this angle was pretty much the aim of the whole exercise.
Long zoom lenses are no good when doing Air 2 Air unless you are in an enclosed canopy.
I use a 24-105 and you do need to be flying with good people to get good photos.

Took us a few minutes to get the Tomahawk in this pose, John was also looking into the late afternoon sun but we were 1/4 off sun to make it a little bit easier.
Will be trying this more often when the conditions are smooth and we have the right people and aeroplanes.

The Allison could be clearly heard, especially during the power changes.
It was a great flight, whether we get an angle like this again is a bit hard to say, but will be trying.
have got this on my office wall blown up to one metre and the detail is great but you really have to get close.

Just to push this wonderful book 'Precious Metal' , I do believe the A2A Curtis is the early P-40C and heard that is to be the next Accusim release ... oh what the hell ... other 40s in the hanger were another brand .

Yeh thats what I 've interperated. Next is the P-40C. Anyone up for a repaint job because this ones a goody. Maybe A2A will have us a nice christmas present like the spit last year. Damn has the year gone already????????
